Ant Hostel Barcelona

Overall I liked the place and would have given a higher rating if not for the fact one very basic thing was missing. Locks on the showers. The “shared module” was a small 4 bed area inside a larger room with two more modules (with some sound leakage). Each module has its own bathroom where the toilet is separate and lockable but the shower area (with a curtain) and sink area are not lockable nor is the door to your “module”, so any of the 12 people that have a key to the room could walk in at any time. This left an uncomfortable feeling for me and not having a lockable door in the module was also not great especially with others in the room being noisy. I did, however, find the staff very friendly. I appreciated the 24/7 reception which was reassuring and the location is good. The bed was comfortable. It wouldn't cost much to add a lock to the bathroom so that we can have a shower in private, so I hope you take this suggestion onboard. It seems that other reviews have also highlighted not being able to lock their “private module” areas too, so hopefully you’ll listen to feedback and make the necessary improvements as it’s a shame that these small things are holding you back. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again or recommend to others if these minor improvements (but major concerns) are addressed.

I would not suggest booking at this place in any way. No matter what you booked, once you pay, they change it without letting you know. I and my friend had reserved a private room with extra payment, but when we got there, they had given the room to someone else without informing us. The staff were unkind and unhelpful. I would never stay here again.

SCAM!! Booked for a private room with bathroom for me and my friend to stay in, we arrived at the hotel early at which point they took our passports and we paid for our stay and was told to return in a couple of hours. On returning they told us one 1 bed had been booked, after arguing with them, with proof of booking they tried to place both me and my friend in seperate mixed dormitories! I was lucky enough to have booked through a third party who I rang and they spoke with the hostel and managed to get us a refund and relocated us! The refund went into my account within a day or so (which is the ONLY good thing)! 4 weeks after our trip, the hostel fraudulently took money from my account WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!!!! Clearly they keep your details and use them without your consent! We have been in contact with the hostel since and they are saying they are in the right because we gave them our passports etc. Customer service is absolutely shocking! As soon as you raise a concern or complaint, they say they can't understand or speak English (although you can stand and have a full conversation with them while checking in and their English is perfectly fine) even had a translator at some points whilst trying to sort a refund etc. I would highly recommend AVOIDING this place and all contact with them!!!….

This was an awful experience ?. We were expecting to stay at the advertised room that we booked but when we got there they changed it to two separate rooms in mixed dorms ?. On top of that, they had taken money out of our account after we had already left the country ?. Even after we contacted them about the issue, there was no help whatsoever ?. Definitely not recommended ?‍♂️.

I have to say that compared to my other hostel stay, this one was not the best. The staff were friendly but the rooms ? had almost no ventilation and felt stuffy. The ? was very mouldy and constantly wet, and the pillows were like using your sweater ?. I didn't stay the full duration but the common area was well-equipped and cozy ?. All in all, ?‍??‍? it wasn't an amazing stay but the staff were friendly ?.
