We spent almost €1.000 on this stay for our honeymoon, so you can understand our disappointment. ??♀️ We expected to enjoy a tranquil stay away from the commotion of the city, but construction noise beginning early in the morning was unbearable. ? To make matters worse, on our last night the air conditioning stopped working which made the room even more unbearable. ? Even the hallway was cooler than our room! ? Plus, we saw ants in the kitchen and roaches in the lobby. ? Lastly, the reception said they would bring us batteries for the remote but they never did. ??♀️ We've stayed at two other hotels during our Spain honeymoon and this was by far the worst. ? Do not recommend. ?
Aparthotel Mariano Cubi Barcelona is a hell hole
Blood on pillows, No Hot water for 2 days, beds so bad had to sleep on floor, no refunds, worst hotel ever, no one speaks english, charge €5 for glass of water if asked, cleaners don't give towels after cleaning. This place is a hell hole.
This accommodation met both of our requirements; it was clean, the reception staff were really helpful, and the breakfast buffet was great. The bed was really comfy and the metro was easy to access. However, the last two nights we visited the bar and experienced a horrible attitude from the barman. When we arrived at 9:45pm, he practically told us to leave and made us feel very uncomfortable. Not only that, but when we ordered more drinks at 10:40pm it seemed to really irritate him, and he stated that we had to leave by 11pm. To avoid any further confrontation, we ended up sitting in the lounge area near reception. We returned the next night to see if he had perhaps just been having a bad day, but the same scenario occurred. It was a stark contrast from the previous night when the barman had been polite and friendly.
This place we stayed was very noisy. The room we had was 112 and faced the street, which we now know is a rather busy one. The noise from traffic and people was unbearable all through the night, completely ruining our sleep. The windows could definitely do with some soundproofing! The beds were hard and so we didn’t even get a proper rest. The room was quite spacious, but somehow quite a lot of it remained unused. The bathroom was modern, though the shower was also nothing special. The location was close to shops, though that was the only upside. We wouldn't stay there again.
Overall the hotel decor is really pleasant and the rooms are spotless, the beds are really comfortable. The hotel also has some great complimentary amenities. The staff were mostly friendly with the exception of Victor who was on reception for our departure. He was very rude and had no customer service etiquette, he had no patience and seemed agitated when we were willing to pay the €57 tax. We were charged an extra €45 once we got home to the UK which was obviously a mistake on his part. The location of the Aparthotel Mariano Cubi Barcelona is a little far from the city centre but is close to some great transport links. Despite the issue with Victor, I would still recommend this hotel due to the friendly staff and modern amenities.
