Due to its great location, we decided to stay at this particular accommodation in Barcelona. We had booked 3 nights for our family of three - a toddler, a senior and myself. After a long day of travel from Los Angeles, we arrived at the hotel at 8pm. Unfortunately, we were greeted with terrible customer service. After informing the staff that the reservation was under my cousin's name (who had arrived earlier and was staying in the same hotel), we were rudely told that we could not stay because the reservation was originally for one adult and one child. Even after contacting the third-party website, Tripadvisor, they could not help. We were offered no way to cancel and get a refund, so we had to book a room next door instead. Needless to say, the customer service greatly detracted from our stay, and will be our last time at this accommodation.
My stay at the Atlantis by Atbcn Hotel in Barcelona was overall very pleasant ?. The rooms were clean and tidy, and the staff was friendly and polite ?. I had a great breakfast served up every morning ?, however I did find the tourist tax charged to be higher than the legal one and I didn't get a bill for it ?. All in all though, I had a great experience ☺️.
As soon as we arrived at the entrance, it was obvious the sliding doors were broken with what appeared to be bullet holes in the glass. An unpleasant odor lingered in the small lobby and the receptionist was not welcoming. On top of that, we were charged an additional fee of 20€ that we were not informed about. The elevator and hallways had an appalling stench and the rooms were dark and cramped. The beds were uncomfortable and the bathroom flooded when taking a shower. Furthermore, its location was inconvenient for transportation. With a variety of affordable hotels in Barcelona, I highly advise all to look for alternative options.
