During my stay in Barcelona, I encountered a few issues at the hotel. Firstly, the lift was out of order, which was an inconvenience. Additionally, the shower drain was clogged and the water took less than a minute to rise to my ankles. To make matters worse, the nearby parking lots were exorbitantly expensive compared to others I had used during my month-long travels. Overall, I found the cost of the stay to be unjustifiably high.
My stay was far from pleasant; I had an unfortunate shower incident which resulted in me going to the emergency room. I sustained various micro cuts that caused me immense discomfort, and despite having to pay for the hospital bill myself, I never received an apology or a refund from the establishment. The air conditioning was subpar and the staff only provided me with one hand and one body towel for the duration of my stay, with the opportunity to pay for extra if required. Additionally, the shared spaces were congested, and it was often difficult to find a bathroom during peak times. The location wasn’t great either, as it was too far from the center to make travelling by train feel safe - the only other form of transport being exorbitantly expensive taxi rides. All things considered, I wouldn’t recommend this place; the lack of amenities and distance to the tourist spots make it an unsuitable destination for a vacation.
The staff at this hotel are incredibly friendly and accommodating. During my stay in March - a low season - I had the place almost to myself. I needn't have worried about noise or shared facilities; the shared toilets were always immaculately clean, likely due to daily maintenance. I thought the breakfast was good, although not cooked. Plus, the hotel's location is ideal.
The accommodation was comfortable and the air conditioning was great, especially considering the heat. The variety of options at the breakfast buffet was impressive and the personnel were kind and accomodating. The hotel was conveniently located next to a metro station.
If you are looking for a true hotel experience in Barcelona, then "Blue Barcelona" Hotel is not the place for you. Although the hotel is quite clean and bright, with a decent continental breakfast and friendly staff, the small rooms, cramped bathroom and shower, as well as the windows facing directly into the neighbours, wouldn't make it a pleasant stay. Additionally, there is no lobby to speak of, just a hallway off the street, where you need to haul your luggage up the stairs to reach the elevator. The location of the hotel is decent, with a subway station close by, but this would not be my first choice for places to stay in Barcelona.
