This guesthouse provides the perfect location near some of Gaudi's most famous works. The staff were a great help and so friendly. Our hot water issue was solved quickly and another bathroom was arranged for us in the meantime. Breakfast was included and was enjoyable. Unfortunately, the soundproofing between rooms wasn't perfect, but it was still good value for money and some minor renovations would make it perfect.
I stayed here for 4 nights. The room was lovely and the staff kept it clean, provided we were out of the room by 11am. The location of the hotel was somewhat central and around a 30 minute walk to la Rambla, but there was a metro station nearby, making for cheaper travel throughout the city than taking taxis! The only issue I had was the heat of the room- it was 29 degrees! My make up melted it was so hot, and while they gave us one fan, it didn't do much to cool down the room given the size. All in all I had a pleasant stay, thank you!
The great location was definitely a plus. It put us in close proximity to the city's central attractions. However, the shower posed a major issue. Despite the plentiful hot water, the temperature would flux randomly, making the experience of rinsing off with soap a game of chance. Additionally, the old building wasn't quite up to standard in terms of cleanliness. The staff were friendly, but they weren't particularly helpful when it came to retrieving a missing item from our room. All in all, the convenient location was dampened by the overall average experience, leaving us with little desire to recommend it over other alternatives.
I stayed at the CasaNova Guest House Hotel in Barcelona and was disappointed with my experience. Although I had booked a triple room, when I called one day prior to arrival to arrange for a late check-in and pay the 45€ supplement, it was too late to do so. This resulted in me having to book a night somewhere else and start my stay one day late. The room was huge and clean, but the bed was smaller than usual and there was no air-conditioning. It was also incredibly noisy if you were facing the main street (I was on the first floor). Security was lacking- there were no security cameras inside the premises and the outside lock on my room looked rather fragile. Plus, the keys were all the old-fashioned kind- you had to move around with three keys (building door, main door and room). Thankfully, check-out was easy as I just had to drop the keys in the small hall basket and leave. All in all, I was not impressed with the hotel.
I found this place to be a great discovery, situated in a nice part of Barcelona and within walking distance to important places yet quietly tucked away, close to Gaudi's Casa Mila. I had to arrange a time for check in as there wasn't a staff member on site, but communication was excellent and a lovely girl met me with the keys (3) - one for the front door onto the street, another for the door to the apartment a couple of floors up and a third to my room. The room was wonderful and really spacious, featuring a double bed in the main area alongside an annex room with a single bed, a bathroom and a balcony looking onto the street. It was decorated in a classic style and was really clean, plus it was unbelievably well priced. I would definitely stay again as the whole experience was very positive.
