Catalonia Plaza Catalunya

Having stayed at Catalonia Plaza Catalunya, I felt the location was superb. However, the half of the hotel was quite worn off, particularly the rooms. Even on the 2nd floor, the rooms were not renovated and were in a condition that I wouldn't expect to find in a 2 star hotel. In my opinion, the hotel should not be offering these rooms to guests, as it is not a good customer experience.

Wake my neighbour everytime I opened them. If you're considering this hotel don't, there are better options out there.

I wouldn't recommend Catalonia Plaza Catalunya to anyone. The room was horrible and dark, the door handle broke on my first day and the key card reader had to have the battery changed. On top of that, the maid threw away the ziplock bags I had set aside for toiletries and the Wi-Fi was terrible. I was on a business trip and it was hard to even get bits of work done in the room. If that wasn't bad enough, the room service pizza was genuinely terrible. On top of all that the doors were heavy and would wake my neighbour every time I opened them. I stayed here because my usual hotel was fully booked and I should have just kept searching. Don't pick this hotel if you can avoid it - there are far better options available.

Appearance and service were both excellent, however there were a few issues that could not be overlooked. From the list of features and amenities, the safe in the room was missing. Even though it was well hidden, it couldn't be found in the room, nor was the vintage safe-keeping service mentioned. Another issue was the air conditioning, which was said to consist of nothing more than a circulator fan controlled by a thermostat. This was concerning as future stays will occur during the hotter months, and all the surrounding businesses and residences had AC. With the family having future reservations here, AC will be necessary for any comfortable stay.
