We had a great stay at the hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a budget hotel in the centre of Barcelona.
We recently stayed at the Catalunya and enjoyed our 3-night trip very much. The hotel is well-located near Las Ramblas and Placa Catalunya, with the airport bus taking only 30 minutes to get here. Check-in was fast and easy, and our room on the ground floor was clean and comfortable. We had powerful hot showers and fresh towels every day, as well as a vending machine for drinks and a coffee machine. There's a cafe across the street that has delicious fresh sandwiches, which we loved. Overall, it was quite a bargain for the location and we would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a budget hotel in the heart of Barcelona.
Hotel Catalunya (Barcelona) (room 205) + Location, so convenient to everything! Shopping, cafés, restaurants, and the metro are all just a stone's throw away. The room had a balcony, a refrigerator, and air-conditioning. Plus, the free wi-fi was a nice bonus. There's also a computer, microwave, and vending machine on the first floor, although the vending machine was broken. They let us check-in early and got our room key right away. - The bed cover wasn't very clean and had some hair on it. I mean, why bother putting the covers on when they clearly aren't washed? +/- You had to show the bank card used for the online booking and payment. I was fortunate enough to have a receipt in my bank account that I could print out on their printer, but it was still an unexpected hassle. The hotel also had a bit of noise from the street, but it wasn't too bad.
We had a great stay at the Catalunya!? We had booked a twin-bed room for the four nights we stayed. The cleaning staff were so friendly and helpful, they really went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. The location was great, really close to the metro station and airport bus stop. The room was basic but quite comfortable and the bathroom had all the basic amenities as well as a window. The reception staff were courteous but not very proactive. However, there were some minor issues. The walls weren't very soundproof so we could hear outside noise, and the neighbourhood was quite noisy on Friday nights. Also there was no toilet brush. Despite these minor issues, we had a great stay due to the wonderful staff and amazing location - just minutes away from La Rambla!
