Upon arrival, we were optimistic about our stay but ultimately were disappointed. As other reviewers have mentioned, the lack of soundproofing made it difficult to sleep as we could hear every little movement and even the sound of toilets flushing. The bathroom also had a persistent smell of drainage which was present throughout our entire stay, likely due to the lack of a window for ventilation and visible mold in the shower. Despite this, we tried to make do with the situation. However, our disappointment reached its peak when we discovered that our towels had not been switched out for clean ones and our beds were not changed or tidied up. To add to our discomfort, the towels also did not have a fresh scent. On a positive note, the staff were kind and helpful, and the water pressure and temperature in the shower were satisfactory. Moreover, the hotel's location is ideal for exploring the city. Overall, while the hotel has potential, it falls short in terms of meeting expectations.
Based on the recommendation of travel writer Rick Steves, I decided to stay at this quaint, independent hotel. Its prime location on a bustling plaza in the charming Gothic District was perfect for exploring the city. Everything from restaurants, the cathedral, shopping, and famous attractions like the Rambla, Picasso museum, Palace of Music, and the hop on-hop off bus stop were within walking distance. The friendly and attentive front desk staff added a touch of first class service to my stay. The complimentary cold breakfast buffet was simple yet convenient. My room, while basic, was tidy, cozy, and surprisingly peaceful. At 115 Euros per night for a double room, it was definitely a steal. Plus, I received a 10% discount for paying in cash. However, there were a limited number of hair dryers available and had to be checked out from the front desk and returned immediately after use. Keep in mind that the lobby can only be reached by stairs, and the tiny elevator services the rooms. But don't be fooled by the term "hostel" - this is a simple hotel, not a youth hostel with shared accommodations.
? The hotel doesn't have an elevator on street level so we had to carry our luggage up 4 flights of stairs ? Not fun, so be careful! The staff was friendly though ? Breakfast was just 2 pastries and cereal ? Not enough to keep me going. But good news, there's a Starbucks and Dunkin donuts nearby! Across the street, there's also a must-visit market that opens at 8am. ?️ We loved our simple room and the lovely patio ?
We revisited this little gem for an overnight after 8 years, remembering it as a well priced centrally located clean hotel. Good news- it still is! This small hotel, just off La Rambla, is very clean, reasonably priced, and conveniently located in the heart of historic Barcelona. The staff were friendly and attentive. The continental breakfast was delicious and efficient. We will certainly be recommending it to our friends and others. Much like catching up with an old friend!
We stayed here for 4 nights and we were delighted with our choice. The staff were all warm and accommodating. Whilst not exactly luxurious, it had all the essentials, plus we chose a room with a terrace. We had the privilege of watching a procession from the nearby church walk by, with everyone lining the streets respectfully. It was an emotional reminder of our Lord and a great chance to give thanks. The hotel is located in an excellent place and with the close proximity of the metro station, it's easy to get to anywhere that’s too far to walk. They also provide breakfast onsite, which is a rarity.
