The accommodation was immaculately maintained and appeared to be recently renovated. The service we received was prompt and the employees were incredibly skilled and courteous. Our only minor disappointment was with the breakfast, as it did not meet our expectations. However, the location was convenient as it was only a 10-minute walk from the yellow metro station.
This hotel's housekeeping is supposed to occur every 6 days, however, it appears that they do not clean properly. Photos were taken after housekeeping had finished, yet the kitchen section was left untouched, with dishes/utensils, stove section, and dustbin packets in disarray. To make matters worse, even the water bottle had not been refilled. Additionally, there is no dishwasher or washer dryer onsite - guests must search for a nearby laundry service.
It’s the little things which make a hotel great or simply annoying. I booked a room with a kingsize bed, but got a room with two single beds. The pillows were only of plastic foam filling and there was no choice of feather pillows. Moreover, there was no power plugs near the bed in this hotel - which is incredibly inconvenient - there was no power for mobile phones, tablets, smartwatches, power banks - absolute rubbish! To top it off, the room was €200+ - never again!

I stayed at the Hesperia Barcelona Del Mar Hotel and had an excellent experience. The staff was hospitable and knowledgeable, and the hotel was within walking distance to the bus and metro. A 7-10 minute walk also got me to the beach. The room I stayed in was clean and spacious and had a balcony. The housekeeping was extremely effective. I also enjoyed the good breakfast selection. The lobby had scooters and bicycles to rent as well. There were quite a few restaurants within walking distance, which were great for drinks, lunch, and dinner. The welcome plate of snacks in the room was a nice touch. The bedding was a bit strange, and the bed could have been more comfortable, but it was not terrible. The location is in a more residential area, so the "Spain" feeling was lacking, but there were plenty of public transport options to get to the necessary tourist sites. The TMB app was very helpful in getting around.
The staff here were absolutely wonderful! Everyone we encountered was unbelievably helpful and friendly, always smiling and ready to help. The bedroom was quite reasonable in size with an amazingly comfortable bed and pillows. That said, the bathroom could definitely use some updating, particularly the shower/bath. Breakfast was delicious; there was a very large selection of food, all kept well-stocked. Breads, however, were particularly great. Unfortunately, the room didn't come with water or any tea/coffee facilities, but those could be accessed after upgrading. Despite being quite far away from the main attractions of this wonderful city, the hotel was still peaceful and quiet at night. We'd definitely recommend getting yourself a BCN card for the journey to and around the city.
