This hotel is in a great spot - close to buses, the metro, parks, restaurants, and a market. The rooms are small but very tidy, and the staff are very helpful. It would be great if they offered breakfast as part of the package, but if I ever come back to Barcelona I will definitely stay here again.
We found our accommodation in Barcelona at very short notice after our original plans had let us down. We were a bit panicked, but after using Google, we found this place. We were welcomed on arrival by a friendly team member, and checked into a small yet clean room with a pleasant bathroom. Additionally, we had a balcony with steps leading to a terrace area. This was great for an evening glass of wine before heading out. It's a quirky place with the tiniest lift and rooms in all sorts of places. It doesn't have any frills, but we really enjoyed it. It's conveniently close to Las Ramblas and is nearby bus stops to Port Vell and the beach. There are lots of shops and restaurants close by too. It hadn't been part of our planned route, but in the end we were glad that we ended up here.
The accommodation was clean and the bathroom/shower were good. However, there wasn't an electric kettle in the communal kitchen, meaning that hot water had to be boiled in a pot. There was also a limited amount of cups/glasses available which means it's more suited to those wanting to have a glass of wine or take away food from the city, rather than cooking. The kitchen needs more equipment too. Rooms with a view of the main street could be quite noisy, although this didn't bother us. Those with a lighter sleep may want to consider this before booking these rooms.
Being a budget option, this hotel delivers what it advertises. It offers simple accommodations, though is conveniently located. Service is great - the staff are polite and always willing to lend a hand. I'm not usually a fan of budget accommodation, but I can definitely recommend this one.
This stay at the Hostal Colkida in Barcelona was surely one to remember - albeit for the wrong reasons! Despite the affordable price, we found pieces of glass in our bed, making for an uncomfortable night. To make matters worse, the hotel charged us extra to bring our dog and for car parking. We would advise anyone to look elsewhere for a better stay and warn them of the dirty conditions.
