I booked via hotels.com and after a few hours got an email that my reservation was cancelled due to a credit card error. That seemed strange because the card cleared with hotels.com and also the reservation was supposed to be a "pay at hotel" one. I contacted the hotel and initially was told it was a credit card issue, but then they changed their story. They said the hotel was not accepting reservations for the month requested. Despite there being availability across all other booking sites they said there was a "price error" due to a congress in town. It seemed they wanted to charge more for the room as it was now listed for double the price! hotels.com spoke with the hotel and the availability was taken down. Once a booking has been confirmed, to cancel it is a breach of trust and I thought that hotels.com should do something to help, however, this was not the case. If you don't want to put your trust in this hotel, then don't book it.
