Highly recommended
I had an amazing stay at the Hostal Lima! The hosts were so warm and welcoming, the room was so clean and spacious and incredibly comfortable. It was great having an air conditioner as well as having a key to the room, and the location was ideal for exploring the city of Barcelona. Highly recommended!
I wouldn't suggest this hotel for an extended stay. When we first arrived, we were taken aback. The room didn't look like the one in the pictures on the website - very cramped for two people. The walls and blinds were filthy and there was no wardrobe, so we had to store our clothes in our luggage. There was a private bathroom but it was so small that if you have a bigger body size, you won't be able to close the door. The walls and doors were also really thin so you could hear all kinds of noises from outside, particularly after midnight and in the early morning. On a brighter note, the location is great – right next to Placa Catalunya and La Rambla – and the staff was friendly and the rooms were cleaned daily. Nevertheless, we won't be returning.
The Hostal Lima Hotel in Barcelona was a huge letdown. The room floor was terribly dirty and the en suite toilets were beyond tiny. The windows could not even be locked, making us feel unsafe. It was such an awful experience that we decided to spend more time outside rather than in the room. We cannot recommend this hotel to anyone.
The reception pointed out, Booking .com should not of given us a picture of a modern room, modern it was not! A great location - tube train and Airobus just 2 minutes away. You can book the bus online before arriving, and there's a McDonalds nearby too. Some of the local restaurants are handy but a bit pricey. It was hard to find the hostel when walking from the bus station - turn right over the crossing and head up the street on the left, the pension is a few doors down, under KFC. As you stand on the end of the street you have the park square, you have to buzz the door in, enter through the black iron-glass door, and the lift is a few steps away, that broke down often but the reception were eager to help all the time. The rooms were tired, as expected due to size, but very good value for money, great for a few nights. The bathroom was tight, but air conditioning was great. However, there is no tea making facility and I love a cup of tea. The bed was great, comfortable and very clean - no bugs, and quiet, so I slept well. I would sum this accommodation up as very good value for the money, but I would find it a little cramped to stay for a week.
This modest hotel can be found in the center of Barcelona, just 20 meters from the Plaza Catalunya. It's a second floor of an old building that offers free WIFI. The room I stayed in was quite roomy, with a sink and toilet, as well as a kind of room/terrace that was really great. The heating could be improved, but given the good price of €45/night, I can't be too disappointed. The bed was comfortable, and the TV had local channels.
