I was really disappointed with my stay at Hotel Medinaceli. The beds felt uncomfortable and unhygienic, like those you would find in a hostel. Additionally, the toiletries weren't up to the 4-star standard I had expected and the TV was extremely outdated. It looks like the place needs a major renovation. Overall, not a great experience.
Our room was small, dark and cold, with no modern amenities. The lamps were not working and the bathroom sink was blocked - we reported this to Reception but nothing was done. However, the room was kept clean and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was an excellent spread and I would recommend this hotel with a few upgrades to the rooms.
the car and the receptionist asked us to leave them at the lobby.
We had a group of 25 from Greece staying at Hotel Medinaceli, and generally had a bad experience. The location (close to Las Ramblas and Barceloneta) was great, as was the breakfast buffet. However, the staff were extremely unhelpful and rude. The cleaner even threw away my Gucci shopping bag that contained a Gucci box with certificates, which I only got back after arguing with the reception. Then, at 10.01 am, a woman started screaming that breakfast was finished at 10.00 am. It was unprofessional and would not be accepted in the tourism industry. The rooms were small and smelled terrible, while the Wi-Fi was weak. Lastly, when we were leaving with our suitcases, the receptionist asked us to leave them in the lobby which was the last straw. All in all, not a great experience.
