Staying at this hotel was one of the worst experiences I've had. We paid nearly 200 euros for two nights, expecting a pleasant room with a good view; however, our room was adjoined to the housekeeping services and had functional furniture at best. Additionally, there was no internet access in the room. We mentioned this to the reception staff, but were treated poorly in return. The breakfast was alright though.
I stayed at Hotel Peninsular for a couple of days. The location was great for tourists, being in the heart of Barcelona. Unfortunately, that's the only positive point I can mention. The wifi was spotty and unreliable, only being available in one shared area of the hotel. Being a single lady traveler, I was assigned to a room with multiple single beds, which felt more like a school trip than a relaxing vacation. To make matters worse, the bed covers were absolutely filthy and I had to walk through a dark hall full of 10-15 laundry bags. After a lot of pleading and negotiations, I was moved to an area near other guests, but the multiple single beds remained. All in all, it was an unpleasant stay and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
We decided to stay at Hotel Peninsular for our holiday and, overall, it was quite nice. The rooms are basic but clean, which is what we expected. Unfortunately, the experience was marred by an unpleasant incident: when we woke up to leave, we saw that our backpack had been stolen during the night - it contained only some clothes. We reported the theft to the reception, but they weren't as helpful as we'd hoped and made us feel like we were lying. Thus, while the hotel itself wasn't bad, we wouldn't recommend it based on the experience of our stolen bag.
I was pleasantly surprised with my stay at Hotel Peninsular. I had read the reviews prior to my stay and set my expectations accordingly. The check-in process was swift and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was basic but very clean and the air conditioning worked perfectly. It was nice and quiet, which is always a plus. The bed was a bit on the hard side, but I still slept quite well. The breakfast was average but it certainly hit the spot. As long as you can find a good deal, I'd definitely recommend this place.
Hotel Peninsular is in an ideal location and very good value for money. The receptionist was friendly and helpful in providing directions and information; she was definitely an added bonus. The room itself was basic and small, though the beds were comfortable. The water pressure of the shower was amazing - best I've ever experienced! Unfortunately, the room lacked bedside lamps and the decor could do with an update, but at the price it's to be expected. One downside would be its lack of accessibility, especially for those with mobility problems, as stairs were involved in getting to the first floor and the rooms. However, if you are young and on a budget, this would be a great option. I saw families and older couples here, but the majority appeared to be younger people. All in all, great value for money.
