During my stay in Barcelona, I had a bit of a disruptive experience with a staff member. Late one night, he barged into my room with guests and turned on all the lights. Naturally, I got up to turn them off again and he started getting confrontational. I explained that I needed to sleep as I had an early morning ahead of me, but he continued to be rude and cocky. I may have gotten a bit heated and even threatened to cancel my booking, reminding him that I was the one paying his wages. It was definitely not a pleasant interaction.
Staying at the Mellow Barcelona Hotel was a huge disappointment. The room was so narrow it felt like a train car, with light shining in all night (so curtains were necessary). All of the hostel furnishings were beat up looking, complete with a blanket without a pillowcase and a towel for four euros. Not to mention a padlock for storing your belongings also ran four euros. The shower rooms were lacking entirely with no hooks or shelves, as well as no soap or other amenities. The location was also very inconvenient. I most certainly canNOT recommend this hotel and am very disappointed.
The lodgings were acceptably clean, but the sheets had an unpleasant odor. The vicinity was awful - locals were extremely unwelcoming (to the point of blatantly ignoring us) and there were abundant signs reading “tourist go home” which made us very uneasy. Additionally, it was around a 30 min walk to any destination. We were only there for one night and definitely wouldn't suggest it.

I would not recommend this place to anyone - ? it's not safe and unclean! Rooms are not secure for your valuables, so I suggest you pay the extra €5 per night to stay at a nicer hostel. Also, the atmosphere here is not great ?? - women should avoid it. Toilets are unisex and smell awful and the men's showers are really bad. When asking for a partial refund, the receptionist made excuses up and said his boss wasn't picking up. My friend and I got our stuff stolen from our room and were told it was found hidden in the hostel. ??♀️ Something suspicious obviously happened. I could not believe that I had to stay there for three nights during a festival - what a huge disappointment. Do not put yourself through it - I mean it!?
This particular accommodation was perched atop a steep incline, demanding a strenuous climb to reach. The space was filled with raucous adolescents who appeared to live there permanently. The aromas originating from the men's restroom were incredibly overwhelming, and the majority of the showers were fitted with broken doors. The soap dispenser had been damaged, making hand-washing impossible. The floor was blanketed in water, and it looked as though the entire place had not been cleaned for an extensive amount of time. On a positive note, the beds were quite comfortable and the air conditioning worked efficiently.
