This centrally located hotel was a solid choice for our stay in Barcelona. It offered many practical amenities, including a refillable water glass bottle and water dispenser on each floor. The rooms were spacious and the recently renovated bathrooms were not only functional, but also very clean and free of any visible mold. We were pleasantly surprised by the firm beds and unusually large memory foam pillows, although it did take some time to adjust to them. The sheets and towels were professionally laundered and we appreciated the option for daily house cleaning. The front desk staff were both professional and friendly, adding to the pleasant atmosphere of the charming historical lobby. While we didn't have a chance to try the buffet breakfast, it looked enticing. However, there were a few minor drawbacks that prevented us from giving a perfect rating. Firstly, the use of a physical key to enter the room was a bit outdated in this day and age. Additionally, the hotel safe was inconvenient to use as it required leaving a deposit for another physical key. Despite these quirks, the noise from the street was minimal as long as the windows were closed. We did notice some vibration from the nearby subway line, but it was not too disruptive. Overall, our stay at this hotel was a fitting end to our European travels and exceeded our expectations.
My recent stay in Barcelona was pleasant, as the accommodation met the expectations of its 3-star local rating. The rooms were impeccable, with crisp white linens and a great shower. However, there were a few downsides that I encountered. Firstly, there was no local information book provided in the room, which would have been helpful for tourists like myself. Additionally, as someone who is disabled and requires crutches, I found it challenging to navigate the many stairs throughout the hotel. Finally, I would advise avoiding room 414 unless you enjoy the sight and smell of a brick wall and the kitchen's ducts.
During my stay in Barcelona, I was impressed by the hospitality of the staff at the hotel. The location was perfect, situated near Las Ramblas and close to two metro stations, making it convenient to explore the city. Everything in the city center was within walking distance, which was a major plus. The breakfast staff, especially a lady named Lilian, were extraordinary and the receptionists were also very helpful. The ongoing restoration of the hotel is definitely elevating it to its former grandeur.
The accommodations were quite peculiar as the room numbering system was confusing, causing me to make a trip down to the reception for clarification. There seems to be a lot of room renovations happening. I've never experienced a stay in a hotel with absolutely no information provided (aside from a fire escape map on the door). It was quite difficult to figure out who to call in case of emergency or basic things like breakfast times and how to use the safe and television. The room did have a fridge, but there was no tea or coffee available (although water was provided). The overall atmosphere was lacking in character, which is a shame because the lobby area is quite charming. I didn't have the breakfast, but it didn't seem very appealing compared to the delicious coffee and croissants available just across the road. Although there were some decent staff members, one in particular (sorry, can't recall their name...maybe Victor?) was very kind and helpful when my wallet was stolen (in la Rambla). The location was convenient, although Barcelona can be quite hazardous due to the high crime rate. As a solo traveler, I wouldn't choose to stay here again as it didn't feel like a safe area, despite my thorough research beforehand.
This hotel is such a gorgeous building. The level of service provided by the staff is top-notch. The breakfast spread is impressive and covers all bases. The room is equipped with all the essentials, including cozy beds, a great shower, and impeccable cleanliness. My experience at this place has been fantastic so far.
