I had a great stay in the Pensión Coral hotel in Barcelona. The room was quite small, but it was spotless and this was the most important aspect. It was conveniently located within a 5 minute walk of the Ramblas and the nearest metro station, and the free WiFi was excellent. During the night, some noise could be heard but this didn't affect us at all. If you are looking for a reasonably priced place to stay where you don't plan to spend much time in the room, then this is a great option.
I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. Everything was clean, comfortable, and safe. The staff were extremely helpful, and the location was perfect -- in the center of the city but still peaceful and quiet. I had my own fridge in the room, plus a private bathroom and shower with hot water. I highly recommend it. It was a wonderful trip!
We had initially booked somewhere else, but the owner had informed us that his place was undergoing renovations and had moved us to this place. However, when we arrived, the proprietor asked for payment, something we refused since we had already paid the original hotelier and he should have transferred the money. This caused a huge argument in angry Spanish, which unfortunately I couldn't understand due to the shouts. Eventually, the original hotelier contacted the proprietor and the matter was sorted, however the proprietor threw the room keys at us and walked away. Despite what other reviews may have stated, the proprietor was not the least bit helpful. The room was alright, with three beds, a fridge and a functional shower. The location was also decent; it was about five minutes walk to La Rambla, and about ten minutes walk to the Port.
only thing going for it is the location.
Staying in Barcelona for my last night, I was looking for something decent yet cheap. I booked on the basis of some reviews on booking.com and, at the last minute, the cheapest option was still 100€/night. Sadly, it didn't live up to my expectations. + It was situated close to a lot of attractions, public transport and the beach + A fridge was provided in the room, as well as a sink - The furniture was outdated and needed to be replaced, the walls needed painting - The bed sheets looked clean but had hairs on them - The towels were old - The fridge was very loud - Everything from a fart to the main door being opened and the cleaner at 6am was noisy - The room was made every day, but the bed sheets were unchanged over 5 days - The window opened in the back with no light - The shower smelled like a public toilet - Only one receptionist spoke English and the keys had to be left each time you returned - The bed cover, chair and walls were dirty and old All in all, this accommodation was not up to scratch in terms of cleanliness, but its location was the only saving grace.
This place was great for a short stay in the old city. The room was compact with all the essentials, television, air-conditioning, and a refrigerator. The staff were really friendly and the price was very reasonable. It was really well located for the cafes, bars, and late nightlife. Plus, it was also really close to the La Rambla and the metro stations.
