You get what you pay for with this accommodation. If you are expecting luxury, you've got the wrong expectations. Its location is very convenient, near most key attractions in the city. You can also find lots of convenience stores nearby. The staff members are all very friendly and keen to answer any queries.
I stayed at the Pensión San Ramón in Barcelona and I must say the experience was far from satisfactory. I had made a booking several weeks in advance and specified that I would be arriving late in the night, and that I would be paying upon arrival - I had provided my credit card only as a security. When I arrived late at night, bags in tow, the hotel had cancelled my reservation, citing that they couldn't validate my credit card. They hadn't even attempted to call or send me a message to update another card. My credit card was expired when I had booked the room, so it was only reasonable to have made an effort to contact me. Additionally, the fact that I had sent a message stating I would be checking in late had been confirmed. It was 3:30am and I was left with no other option but to search around for a hotel; unfortunately, all the hotels were full. All I'm asking for is for a bit of common sense; it would have been great if the hotel management had used their head and avoided leaving me stranded in the middle of the night.
My friend and I spent a night in Barcelona and we opted to stay in the Pensión San Ramón Hotel. Despite being tucked away in back streets, it is quite safe. The rooms have basic amenities - a sink and mirror, air conditioning, comfortable beds, and mostly clean linens and towels (you can have them changed, if necessary). It has a shared bathroom, but it is neat and tidy. We stayed on the 3rd floor, with a tiny balcony with its view blocked for security reasons. We were pleased to find that the receptionists are friendly and they can converse in English. All in all, it was a pleasant experience :)
Staying in the El Raval neighborhood is a must for any tourist visiting Barcelona. This accommodation is clean, well-kept, and equipped with all the amenities you need. The cheerful Italian receptionist will make you feel welcome. The elevator, while small, is more reliable than many comparable structures. Despite its pricey rates, it's still a good option.
I recently stayed at this accommodation from Sunday 21st to Friday 26th July 2019. My single room was nothing special, but clean. It wasn't provided with a window, which was odd. The shared bathroom was for the whole floor, which was used by 6 other rooms. This could make it occasionally difficult to get access, however it was usually in a good condition. Unfortunately, one time I experienced a terrible situation when another guest had been smoking in the bathroom and had left the toilet very dirty (I won't go into details). I informed the staff about it and they quickly arranged for it to be taken care of. This accommodation is located in an ideal area of the city which makes it easy to get around and explore Barcelona. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating.
