I highly discourage staying at this specific hostel. During my visit, the receptionist, Pedro, displayed a complete lack of professionalism and was aggressively ready to call the police on me for checking out an hour late, even though he had offered extra time for my checkout. When I asked about my EUR 10 key deposit back, he refused to give it to me. On asking other guests, similar experiences were reported. The other staff members were courteous, however, the management should consider removing this particular staff member as he is causing damage to the hostel's reputation. I will take it upon myself to spread the word of this horrible experience on social media and various hostel review websites. I felt extremely insulted and wronged.
I had a wonderful time while staying in this hostel while travelling solo. It was located in a vibrant neighbourhood of Barcelona with plenty of character and places to explore. The staff were extremely helpful and my room was spotless. I highly recommend this hostel chain in the area. They offer nightly free pub crawls which are a great way to socialize with other tourists and even some of the staff. Overall, I highly recommend this place and cannot say enough good things about it!
I had a wonderful stay at the Sant Jordi Hostels Gracia Hotel in Barcelona. Located in a great neighbourhood, there were many bars and cafes to explore. The plaza is just a hundred feet away, and it is surrounded by beautiful cafes. The host was very friendly and accommodating, and the space itself was very clean and comfortable. There was a washing machine (for an additional fee) and a kitchen available for use. The beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable. I only wish I was able to book rooms on the front side of the property; I assume that these were booked up during my stay. I recommend that when booking this hotel, you try to get one of the rooms at the front of the property. All in all, my stay at the Sant Jordi Hostels Gracia was extraordinary.
This hostel was without a doubt the best on our backpacking trip. The staff is truly incredible and will make sure that you receive the best experience. You can form meaningful connections with the other guests and the smaller size of the place makes that possible. You can pay a nominal fee for home cooked dinners every night and the rooms are spotless. This is what a hostel should feel like and it was a huge contributer to how much we enjoyed our stay in Barcelona!
Showering can be tricky as it wasn't cleaned upon arrival, but it was fresh and clean for the other days. It would be wise to bring some flip flops as well. There's a fridge available for usage, but the kitchen facilities are rather basic - a sponge was the only cleaning tool provided which wasn't particularly helpful. Rooms can be quite noisy due to thin walls, so earplugs can be a life-saver. Comfortably-sized beds, big lockers and friendly staff made up for the minor inconveniences. An outside seating space for breakfast is available too. There's also a €20 local tax to pay for every four nights. The hostel is conveniently located, close to supermarkets, restaurants, bars and public transport. It was also possible to walk to some attractions to save money. Getting to the airport was easy too.
