We booked with high hopes due to its impressive location. We had visited Barcelona before, so we had a good idea of where we wanted to be. The communication between us and the hostel's staff was superb, and we were guaranteed that someone would be there to welcome us on arrival after 10pm. Though the entrance wasn't the most aesthetically pleasing and the stairs were difficult to ascend if you weren't in the best shape, it was worthwhile. The interior was modern, absolutely spotless and user friendly. Every door was completely secure, with access granted by a pin code, and no need for keys or intercoms. Our room was fresh and spotless, with all the tea, coffee and bottled water we could have wanted, as well as a top-notch hairdryer and ironing facilities which were tucked away in an attractive and convenient locker room. The air conditioning was effective and incredibly quiet too. Naturally the environment outside was quite loud, but this isn't something you expect to avoid in a city center! I was particularly pleased by the luggage lockers available, usable for free until 9.30pm, a terrific amenity. The system employed at this hostel is definitely the way to go for a city break. Don't be discouraged by the exterior or stairs - this place is a great find!

Yes there are 4 flights of stairs to get to the hotel so if you're not fit, this may not be the best option for you. However, the effort is rewarded with modern and spacious rooms plus exemplary service from the friendly staff. The location can't be beaten – just off La Ramblas – and you'll get a great stay here. We would definitely stay at the Wander by Pillow Hotel again if we ever return to Barcelona. Highly recommended!

It's been an awful experience with this hotel. I had reserved a stay due to the coronavirus crisis and it was closed at that time. So I contacted them 3 weeks earlier to ask for a refund, but they only offered me a voucher, which I refused. After that, they didn't answer me back, marked me as a guest who failed to show up and charged the full amount, despite the obvious circumstances. Their phone was disconnected; they didn't answer emails or chat on booking.com. I had to contact them through their chain's messenger account, where a very unprofessional employee was really informal and almost rude. He didn't even try to resolve the issue and said that was the way it was. Such bad customer service in this critical economic time is just unacceptable. It seems they want to lose all their customers and close all their hotels.

This was an absolutely terrible experience! The pictures for the rooms look great, but the area they are in is very dangerous with drug addicts and homeless people on the street. The entrance to the hotel was also very dirty. And the fact that the hotel didn't mention the need for stairs to access the lift is irresponsible, as it makes it very difficult for elderly people. The customer service was non-existent and I was still charged the full price even though I couldn't stay due to the stairs. I've traveled a lot and this was the worst experience I have ever had.

It’s not often I leave a scathing review but in this case I’m happy to make an exception. Where do I start? We booked a hotel for ourselves and two other elderly couples. On arriving at the property we were disgusted at what we found and instantly realised it was not suitable for our companions as there is no accessibility for people with disabilities. This is not stated anywhere. On contacting the owners we were told “Tough, it’s your job to ask the question” and they refused to refund us. We ended up having to book into another hotel and paying for an additional three rooms. We are still battling for a refund now but to no avail. STAY AWAY from this establishment. The pictures of the rooms may look nice but the entrance is down a seedy alley located between a late night bar and a club that looks like a brothel. The entrance smells of urine and looks like something from a horror movie. Reasons not to stay here: 1. The area is totally unsafe, 2. Druggies and homeless people on the streets outside, 3. Stairs needed to get to the lift - not mentioned anywhere, totally unsuitable for less mobile people, 4. Entrance absolutely FILTHY! Wouldn't let my worst enemy stay there 5. Customer service non existent, was charged the full price to cancel - come on, would ANYONE feel safe staying here? 6. The entrance is between two noisy bars/clubs, one of which looks like a brothel. We booked through a third party and can’t believe they are promoting this establishment. Shame on them and shame on the management for misleading its customers. STAY AWAY....
