During my recent trip to Barcelona, I had the pleasure of staying at a hotel conveniently located in the heart of the city. The hotel was just a short walk from Casa Battló, making it a perfect base for exploring. What impressed me the most, however, were the peaceful surroundings, the impeccable cleanliness of the room, and the friendly and accommodating staff. I would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Luna, who patiently assisted me in navigating to the main cultural attractions. And a big thank you to the entire staff for making my birthday a memorable one. I am already looking forward to my next stay at this wonderful hotel.
The accommodation was wonderful, with rooms located near the rooftop pool. There was also a restaurant on the premises where they offered a great value and tasty Menu del Dia. The only downside was that the front desk was not very efficient when it came to providing a wake-up call. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of options to choose from.
Our recent trip to Barcelona did not end on a high note due to our experience at the hotel we booked. We had reserved a family room for 4 adults, but upon arrival, we found out that we would only be a group of 3. The woman at the front desk, who introduced herself as Luna, informed us that we had booked a room for 1 adult and 3 children, and we would have to pay for an extra room as the hotel could not accommodate 3 adults in one room. Despite informing her that the booking site did not mention any limitations on the number of adults, she insisted that it was our mistake and we would have to pay for the extra room. As a front desk agent myself, I know that it is important to first investigate the situation before placing blame on the guest. She then called her supervisor or the hotel manager, who confirmed that it was indeed their mistake and there was no mention of children on the booking. We were then told that an extra bed would be provided for our comfort, which we thanked her for, not realizing what difficulties we would face next.
Upon receiving our keys, we headed to our room on the 3rd floor. To our surprise, we were given a double room for 3 people, with 2 single beds instead of a double bed and no extra bed as promised. We decided not to make a fuss and just deal with it. However, we soon discovered that the pillows were uncomfortable, the room was too hot, and the air conditioning barely worked. We were not informed that the bar and reception were not open 24 hours, and when we tried to locate someone to address our issues, we were unable to find any staff.
The next morning, we had a decent breakfast for the price of 18€. However, upon check-out, when we complained about our disappointing stay, we were simply told that we still had to pay for the tourist tax. No effort was made to address our concerns or make up for our uncomfortable and sleepless night. We were truly disappointed and believe that this hotel does not deserve a 4-star rating. We paid almost 200€ for a night that turned into a nightmare. We urge future guests to carefully consider their accommodation options in Barcelona and avoid the same mistake we made. We hope that in the future, the hotel will take guest complaints more seriously and make a genuine effort to improve their services to match a luxury hotel.
This hotel was spotless and located in a very safe and convenient area. We were highly impressed and will certainly make it our go-to choice for future trips to Barcelona. The breakfast was satisfying and the staff were genuinely accommodating, with Elias standing out for his exceptional assistance during our late check-in.
LACK OF ATTENTION FOR GUESTS It is not always difficult to assess the quality of a hotel. During my stay, I noticed that a door on my floor, the sixth, was making a lot of noise when opened and closed in the common area. I tried to request that it be locked open, but it took me an hour to get through to the front desk (at 11 p.m.!). They promised to send someone to fix it, but unfortunately, no one came despite my numerous calls. Overall, this hotel seemed to have a lower level of service despite being rated as a four-star establishment.
