I stayed at the Catalonia Eixample 1864 and found it to be a pleasant experience. The room was comfortable and had the basics I needed. The breakfast was excellent and a good value for the additional fee. The location was ok - walkable to major sites but not as close as I wanted. The highlight was the rooftop pool and loungers, it was a great place to chill and take in the surroundings. Overall, I had a pleasant experience, however I think I would look for an alternative if I return to Barcelona.
Stayed for work at Catalonia Eixample 1864. Got a group deal, but the room wasn't great. Paper thin walls, old plumbing, and no air conditioning made for a stuffy and uncomfortable stay. Not to mention the noise from the street - couldn't open the window. Room service was pretty bad - the salmon didn't come with any vegetables, and when I asked for a side dish, the receptionist said they couldn't provide one. On the plus side, they have decent sushi from outside, but only after 7pm. All in all, it was an unpleasant experience.
The rooms were clean and comfortable, with great amenities. Breakfast was delicious and had a wide variety of options. The room view was of the surrounding city, which was beautiful and peaceful. Overall, this was my second stay at this hotel and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable stay in Barcelona.
