Catalonia Port
About
Clean and modern decoration
At the port, in the Gothic quarter not far from Las Ramblas, this new and little 41 room hotel is very pleasant. Clean and modern decoration, large and silent rooms with large beds, a roof pool and solarium. We appreciate the friendly and efficient personnel, and we love its strategic location to visit the city without too long walks...
Catalonia Port is about 250 metres from the bottom of the famous Las Ramblas, and Port Vell Harbour is only 400 metres away. Drassanes Metro Station is a 5-minute walk away.<a class="twitter-timeline" data-width="600" data-height="600" href="https://twitter.com/CataloniaHotels?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">Tweets by CataloniaHotels</a> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

if the smell in our original room wasn't so awful, it would have been 5 stars!
We stayed at this hotel in mid June for 3 nights, our first visit to Barcelona. My teenage daughter and I wanted a central, clean, safe and comfortable base from which to explore the city, and our expectations were happily met. There were a few drawbacks, though. We'd originally booked a different hotel in the same chain, the Catalonia Born, but were switched the the Port branch just a few days before arrival, apparently to accommodate Ukrainian refugees? Initially this was of concern, but I was reassured after researching the new area and reading reviews. Sadly, the room we were given had a strong bleach odor and a stinky plumbing issue in the bathroom. Additionally, noise from the street below, even on the 4th floor, was enough to make it hard to sleep. The next morning, I asked the front desk if it would be possible to switch rooms, and was immediately granted this request. We were placed into room 001, with an interior view, which was extremely quiet and no weird smells! The beds were very comfortable! We also appreciated the central location (being steps from the metro), the cute pool, the friendliness and helpfulness of front desk staff, and the complimentary breakfast. Wifi was sketchy on the 4th floor and by the pool, but worked great in our second room on the ground floor. Sadly the hotel wasn't able to accommodate our request for a late check out, but they did store our cases for us for free until we left for the airport, and check out isn't until 12 noon anyway (they extended to 12.30 for us). All things considered, we would recommend this hotel for its location, quiet, cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. The breakfast was great too! Our only major issue was the smell in our original room - if it hadn't been so awful, it would have been 5 stars!
