airport, the reception desk called me a taxi but the driver who arrived refused to take me due to the weather...i left the hotel and walked to the taxi rank with little in my pockets. Not a very good experience.
I stay at the Hesperia Barcelona Barri Gòtic regularly, so I know what to expect. But this time it was different. The location is outstanding, as it's right in the heart of the Gothic Quarter. However, the customer service was extremely subpar. On two occasions my access to my room failed due to faulty keycards, and in the entire two days I stayed I never had any new bedding or towels, or even an empty bin. Furthermore, breakfast options were limited to coffee and biscuits or cake. To top it all off, I asked for a taxi to the airport and the reception desk called one for me, but the driver refused due to the weather so I had to walk to the nearest taxi rank with little money at hand. It was an unpleasant experience and I definitely won't be returning.
Breakfast was served in the ground floor and was a nice continental affair.
We absolutely loved this hidden gem. We booked this place for my parents’ anniversary and what a surprise! From the outside, the hotel may not look like much, but it was stunningly decorated with a modern and very welcoming reception area. The second floor room was small but comfortable, with a huge bed and an ensuite bathroom that was spotless with ample toiletries. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The only downside was the inevitable noise at night coming from other guests and the staff area. Despite this, I would highly recommend this hotel as the breakfast was delicious, the staff were amazing and the location was very convenient.
