We had a great check in process with the helpful staff at the front desk. Special mention goes to Ma Rosaura who was incredibly kind and considerate. However, what should have been a pleasant experience at breakfast was significantly marred by the conduct of two staff members. One of them, a Spanish lady, approached our table in a very hostile and aggressive way. She seemed to think we had violated a rule by taking a banana and yoghurt to go, although that same action was commonplace on other tables. Her behavior was completely unacceptable and, disturbingly, it appeared to be motivated by racism. Her attitude was simply inexcusable.
I booked through a booking website, but the hotel required advanced payment a few weeks before check-in. I had to pay before I arrived, since it was during a high season. When I got to the room, it wasn't even close to the pictures I had seen - it was really small. It was located on the ground floor and it seemed like a maze to find it. The window faced an inner courtyard, so it was very dark and unappealing. The bed was clean, but the room was only average. There was also a small TV far from the bed and the bathroom was ok with the needed amenities. I probably would've been ok with the price I paid, if it was half of the original cost. Next time, I'm going to book earlier and try to find a better balance between price and level of the accommodation.
I had an awful stay at Hotel Glòries. The staff were incredibly unhelpful and their customer service was non-existent. Additionally, my booking was completely bungled, leaving me feeling frustrated and disappointed. The room itself was subpar - the furnishings were tired, the bathroom was grubby and the air conditioning was inadequate. Barcelona is such a vibrant city with numerous excellent hotels - I would advise visitors to look elsewhere.
The room was clean and spacious and the staff were helpful. The location was great - close to the metro, bars, and restaurants. We enjoyed the free breakfast, with lots of variety to choose from. Wifi was fast and reliable. We spent most of our time out exploring Barcelona, but the hotel was a great place to rest. Prices were reasonable and we would definitely come back.
Take Metro Line 1 to Monumental station. A really great deal.
Very good value for money. Hotel Glòries is conveniently located only a few minutes walk from the Monumental metro station. The room was comfy, clean, and well lit. The WiFi signal was strong and we had no trouble logging in. Although the mini fridge seemed to be just for aesthetics, the room was kept very cool due to the key that activates the electricity when you enter the room. Another plus is its accessibility to the Hop-on-Hop-off bus stop, which was only a 5 minute walk. Furthermore, the airport express bus (A1) is available to take you right to the hotel. My stay at Hotel Glòries was comfortable, convenient and pleasant, making it a great deal overall.
