The staff at this hotel were truly wonderful, so helpful. The location could not have been better and the rooms were nicely quiet and of a good size. A strange thing to note though, there was a nice new kettle as well as two cups in the room yet no tea or coffee was available and the hotel didn't have any either. Breakfast had a great selection of options.
Our experience at this accommodation was far from perfect. Pros: - Wi-Fi was good but the requirement to sign in every day proved to be an inconvenience. - It is centrally located and many tourist spots are within walking distance. - The cleaning ladies were friendly and did a good job, except for leaving a hair tie on the nightstand that wasn't wiped down from the night before. Cons: - Not enough English speaking channels and only the BBC news channel available. - The customer service at the front desk was terrible; no useful information about the hotel was given to us. When asking for directions to places, we were only provided with street names rather than a map. - The bathroom had poor lighting and the shower needed more light. - The rooms were small, dark, and depressing; even though the balcony had a very unpleasant view. - No tea, coffee, sugar etc provided despite a kettle and mugs being present. - The elevator murals were nice although the elevators needed to be cleaned more frequently as handprints were visible for hours. - The room was not soundproof; there was a lot of noise from furniture being moved in the hallway and from the outside church bells ringing. - The woman in charge of the breakfast area was fake and rude; rather than approaching a guest whom she had a problem with, she chose to raise her voice and shame them in front of everyone else. We were expecting a lot more from this hotel in the well-known city of Barcelona, however, we were disappointed. We cannot envision returning here in the future; it certainly does not live up to the standard of a 4 star hotel and the same issues seem to have persisted since 2017.
This hotel is definitely not a five-star, and barely even a three-star. We had stayed there twice in the past, but it seemed to have gone downhill lately. On arrival, we were greeted by a very rude person at the reception - no hello or welcoming, just asking for the type of beds. We requested a double and were told it was at the back of the building - without being informed that it was a tiny room, dingy, and with a shower curtain in the bathroom - one of my biggest pet peeves. After two previous stays and booking directly, I expected more from the welcome. I walked back downstairs using the slowest lifts ever to try to negotiate a better room with two singles. The breakfast is good but not great. So glad we only booked two nights - you get what you pay for. I have certainly learnt my lesson.
We experienced two great stays at this hotel - once the night before our cruise and once after! Both times, we found the rooms clean and comfortable and the breakfast buffet outstanding. But what really made this accommodation special was its staff; their politeness and helpfulness was incredible and we can't speak highly enough of them! We passionately recommend this hotel and look forward to staying here again.
