Stayed at this place for one night ? Room was super clean & spacious ? Staff were so friendly ? However, there were a few issues that could do with some updating ? Not to mention, breakfast was a big let down ? Cold eggs, horrible sausages, dry pastries and watered down juice ? The street noise was also a bit bothersome ? In the end I moved to another hotel in Barcelona ?
I visited this hotel almost two years ago, and at the time it suited our needs, including helpful reception staff. However what a difference this time! The female clerk was incredibly aggressive and rude to my travelling companion - falsely accusing him of throwing luggage that had become jammed in the totally inadequate lift. I witnessed that this was not the case, as my friend was trying to remove our baggage and was trying to pull one bag free so that others would be released. No bags were thrown as it was physically impossible. The clerk came rushing over being abusive and making false accusations. No matter the rights or wrongs of the situation, her manner was rude and she would not listen to anything we had to say, simply shouting us down. From other reviews, it seems like this was an untrained member of staff which is a shame. They really need to move her to less customer-facing roles and give her training in customer relations. Another aspect to avoid is the breakfast - at 12 Euros it is a total rip off. It is stale bread, two cereals, a little fruit, tired cheese and ham, with no hot options, and weak, poor quality coffee and watered down juice. There are so many cafes in the area offering excellent food for a much lower price. The rooms are clean but looking a bit tired and could do with some TLC. There is no kettle either. There are so many good options in Barcelona, and this hotel is not one of them - certainly not 3 star, more a basic 2 star....
Stayed for a few nights at Hotel Viladomat by Silken, good value for the price. Check-in was very smooth and was allowed to check in early, which was very convenient since I had an early flight. Room was a bit dated, but clean and comfortable. Air conditioning was a bit weak, but manageable. No rudeness from reception staff, as some reviews suggested. Breakfast was OK, but there are lots of local eateries so no need to have it. Hotel is outside of the old town, but there are good transport links and the city is quite walkable. Could use a few touches of modernization, however it was clean, quiet and comfortable so can't complain.
I stayed at Hotel Viladomat by Silken as a tourist in a group. Overall, it was a comfortable stay. The rooms were clean and there was a good selection for breakfast. I needed to do laundry, and there was a great place nearby. But it was quite a distance to the main attractions such as Familia Sagrada and the port. Taking transit would have been an option, but my stay was too short. A location closer to attractions would have been more preferable, but this hotel worked out well. The room was quiet and I hardly heard any street noise. The elevators were very fast, although one felt slightly clunky.
I stayed at Hotel Viladomat by Silken and it was a terrible experience. The hotel is old and the rooms are full of noise and smell coming in even when the windows are closed. The beds were not comfortable either. The breakfast restaurant was quite disappointing! The food was processed and there was nothing fresh like eggs. Even the chairs were too dirty to sit on. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.
