2. No air conditioning: Our 4-night might have been bearable if air-conditioning was available.
Overall, I would rate this hotel a 6/10. The pros outweigh the cons. And although I was prepared to pay slightly more for the convenience of the location, I think the hotel could have offered something more in exchange for the price. This would have made our stay even more enjoyable.
We had a great stay at htop BCN City #htopEnjoy! The location is excellent - 10 minute walk from Sagrada Familia and mere steps from the hop on hop off buses. The staff were friendly and welcoming and went above and beyond in helping me retrieve my Apple Watch that I'd left in the room! The rooms were kept sparkling clean daily, and for the price everything was top notch. We would definitely return here the next time we visit Barcelona!
That was it, never heard anything from the hotel again. No refund, no apology, nothing. AVOID!
Don't even think about staying here! We arrived to the hotel shortly after 1pm, expecting to find a welcoming atmosphere. What we found was a rundown reception area, complete with a rude and abrupt receptionist, and a feeling of being unwelcome. The decor was shabby and the people coming in and out were not what we were expecting. It felt like a scene from a low-budget movie set in a ghetto. We decided to head out and explore Barcelona, and were glad that we did. We found a great hotel on Las Ramblas and booked it for 4 nights. When we called the Hilltop Hotel to tell them we wouldn't be staying, they didn't even bother to answer our calls. We contacted our holiday company, who told Hilltop that we wouldn't be checking in - and not even then did they bother to get in touch. No apology, no refund - nothing! Absolutely avoid this place at all costs!
