My stay at the Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona GL was extremely disappointing. Upon arriving, I was presented with the unfortunate reality of a room containing black mold, after being told that I would have to wait five hours for it to be ready. For the hefty price of $600 per night through Silverseas, I expected a much better hospitality experience. To make matters worse, I was 65 years old and travelling with a 75 year old woman, and despite this the staff offered no help with the hefty task of unloading the bus filled with 50 pieces of luggage. Although the rooftop was excellent, it wasn't enough to make up for the sub-par service overall.
I had a terrible experience checking in: the bedrooms weren’t ready yet and the staff didn’t seem trained or particularly polite. One of my friends was left locked in their room without lights. Another had to carry their own luggage to their room - an issue you wouldn’t expect with a five-star hotel.
The Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona GL is situated in a great location with easy access to the attractions, restaurants and shopping Barcelona has to offer. However, the rooms and service provided did not match up to the 5-star rating and weren't up to the standards expected. On entering the first room, I detected an unpleasant smell of mildew, which was then followed by the lights not working properly in the second room. Despite this, the breakfast buffet was very good and certainly helped to make the stay more enjoyable.
You won't be disappointed. Safety was top-notch and second to none. You'll love the luxury and high-end shopping around the area, not to mention the beautiful architecture. Plus, this hotel is close to practically everything you need. To top it off, the rooftop bar is an unforgettable experience. All in all, this is a first-class stay that even lives up to the highest of European standards. A true five-star experience.
Staying at this popular hotel in Barcelona was not the pleasant experience I hoped for. On checking in the first room had steps in the middle, so we had to get another one. The second one had no windows, so eventually the third room was satisfactory. The rooftop restaurant had a beautiful location and scenery, but the service and the quality of the food were both poor. To make matters worse, they did not honour the Amex Platinum amenity which had been confirmed by both Amex beforehand and by the hotel on check-in. When I spoke to the manager they were very disrespectful and refused to acknowledge the previously confirmed programme. Amex Platinum is now looking into the situation with the hotel.
