This accommodation was a bit of a mixed bag. We had booked a double guestroom for my partner's 30th birthday and arrived a bit past check-in. I had left notes that this was a special occasion and requested a double bed and some birthday decor, so I was surprised that upon arrival we were given a room with two single beds and it was in a real state. The AC wasn't even working! The second day at the hotel, the staff kindly provided an upgrade to a room with a view which was much appreciated.

We then decided to book some treatments at the hotel's spa, but when we arrived at the spa it turned out our treatments had been booked in a different hotel, about 20-30mins away. We were refunded (thanks to the hotel manager for this) but I'm still waiting for the refund to arrive. On the plus side, the staff provided a card and delicious fruit platter on the second afternoon. The hotel isn't in the city centre but it's easy to get to with a taxi. We didn't use the restaurant. Room service was ok but it took a while for things to arrive.

The rooms show signs of clear, long-term usage. The veneer is pealing off on many surfaces, glass walls are damaged in the bathroom, quick fixes have been done to some furniture, technical installations like lamps, vents and similar are either hanging out of the ceiling. Comparing it to other 5* hotels, it just simply misses the mark and clearly is due for a serious renovation. The staff was kind, friendly, accommodating and put in a lot of effort, but the hotel was still lacking. Thank you nevertheless for the effort of the staff to make us feel taken care of.

Customer service and lack of attention quality is way below what anyone would expect from a 5 star hotel.

I stayed at the Melia Barcelona Sarriá Hotel in Barcelona for my partner's 30th birthday. When we arrived at 3.30pm, past check-in time, there was no birthday decor provided despite my request and the room was two single beds with a window facing the back of the hotel with a view of the hotel's air handling units and neighbouring residential buildings. When I asked to be moved to a room with a king bed, the receptionist reacted with annoyance to my request and said no such rooms were available with no apology or explanation. Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel as the customer service and lack of attention to detail is below what one would expect from a 5 star hotel.

My view was nice and the décor was modern. I didn't even have to leave the hotel, because it's connected to several restaurants, which is nice because you don't have to step outside. The pool was a nice touch as well to just relax and enjoy the city views. Overall, I had a great experience and I would recommend this hotel if you're looking for a getaway. I will definitely return here in the future!

I stayed at the Melia Barcelona Sarriá and was surprised to find the 5-star rating was not quite justified. The standard room I booked was quite outdated, the bed was uncomfortable and the slippers, robe, and Rituals bathroom essentials provided didn't make up for the lack of quality. I would recommend opting for a Superior Room for a better overall experience.

Stayed here for two nights for a city break and it was a brilliant stay. The location was perfect for sightseeing, with most places within walking distance. The staff were so helpful, going out their way to assist us, even booking attractions for us. Breakfast was great and the hotel room was spotless. Highly recommend Melia Barcelona Sarriá!
