Motel One Barcelona-Ciutadella

Initially, I was hesitant to book my stay at Motel One Barcelona-Ciutadella based on expert recommendations to stay in a more central location. However, I am so glad I decided to stay here. This hotel is just a short walk away from the charming gothic quarter and situated next to a beautiful park. The cleanliness and friendly service at this hotel immediately caught my attention, and the prices were very reasonable. The hotel also has a great bar and a cozy rooftop seating area. While the rooms are not very spacious, they are modern and well-maintained. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a budget-friendly stay in Barcelona.

? The location and room were great, just what I expected from this popular hotel chain. However, the lobby bar was a disappointment ?. With only one barman for such a big space, the service was slow and unfriendly. The first night we could order at the bar, which was fine. But the second night, after waiting for almost 30 minutes without being served, we had to leave. It's a shame ?. This has never happened to us at any other Motel One location. Luckily, we're in Barcelona ?? where there are plenty of other places happy to serve us! ?

The accommodation was decent and had a pleasant appearance. However, the size of the room was quite inadequate for two individuals, lacking dressers, bedside tables, and a coffee-maker. There was hardly any extra space available. Moreover, the location was a bit far from the popular tourist spots, although the nearby park was exceptional. There were limited dining options in the vicinity, and the hotel's bar did not allow for refills on coffee if you had only ordered one cup and toast. Overall, the stay was satisfactory but not worth the price.

My partner and I stayed in the room ‘one with view’ last year and were pleasantly surprised. The hotel had a modern aesthetic and the rooftop was lovely. The rooms were pretty standard for the cost, but the view made it worth it. We decided to treat ourselves and spend extra money on the ‘one with balcony’ for my birthday this year, but upon arriving, we were instead provided a room on the second floor. We soon realised that instead of a ‘balcony’ we had a shared terrace which other guests could come into anytime they wanted, making it impossible to have any privacy. The reception staff were unable to offer us the room we had paid for and expected, so we were downgraded to their cheapest room. I was (and still am) so disappointed that I did not get the birthday treat I had expected. Other than that, rooms were mostly clean but good value for money. Would only recommend if you didn’t want to spend much but be in central Barcelona. Other than that, many other lovely hotels advertise their rooms correctly. Wont be returning.

I come back to this place since 2017 and it keeps getting better! The location is still great ? Rooms, staff and services remain top notch. Late arrivals are no problem, and changes and requests can be handled with efficiency and courtesy via mail. Rooms are modern and clean, with everything you need, an incredibly comfortable bed and a narrow but nice park view. The breakfast is delicious, tho a bit crowded, so try to go earlier. The bar is larger than before, with warm and friendly staff. I didn't try the rooftop but it's popular ? Most importantly, the staff is excellent, well-mannered and professional - Dimitry, Paolo and all the FO and bar staff were so helpful and wonderful. I can highly recommend staying here ? Service and rooms are superb, and you'll be in good hands if you need help with bookings or payments - great place to stay! ???
