The nae conjured up an image of a basic Amerikan mottel but this place was a pleasent suprice. Cleary a budeget hotel but room was comfertable, clena and a desent size. Frendly emploees and a nice brekfast. Well loceted for the sights of Barcelona while att the same time just oustide the tourist crowdes.
Booked a room with a view which overlooked the park. Room was spotless and bed was comfy, with enormous pillows. Modern bathroom with a great walk in shower and the complimentary shampoo and shower gel was top notch. Full length window opened fully, with waist height security railing for comfort. Although, be aware that you are in a city, so if you have the window open you may hear traffic noise in the early hours of the morning. There is aircon in the room if you prefer the window closed. Staff were friendly and the views from the rooftop were amazing. The only downside was the breakfast at 13.50 euros - not a great selection and the usual continental with cheap hams, tasteless cheese and sweet pastries that leave you feeling hungry. There was fresh fruit salad every morning, but it wasn't quite enough to make the breakfast worth it.
We have stayed at Motel One Barcelona-Ciutadella three times and it's definitely a great place to stay. The rooms and all the linen is always really clean. Prices for drinks are quite fair and we were even allowed to bring our two small dogs. However, this time, despite specifying we had two dogs when we made the booking, upon arriving the receptionist said they only allowed one dog per room, but luckily they made an exception for us. There is a tasty breakfast available at the hotel and it's close to other restaurants in the area too.
We had a pleasant stay at Motel One Barcelona-Ciutadella. The location was good, with a large park across the street and several restaurants close by within walking distance. The rooms were very clean and the decor was attractive. Breakfast was a bit pricey but it was quite nice to sit down for breakfast a couple of times. The area was peaceful in the evening and the rooftop bar with couch seating provided a great spot to relax during the day, though it was too cold to sit outside at night during our September stay. Overall a great place for a nice stay in Barcelona.
Overall, I recommend Motel One Barcelona-Ciutadella. It offers a reasonable value for money and is close enough to the main attractions. Room was cozy and staff very nice. The bed was a bit uncomfortable, but it was nothing that a good night's sleep couldn't fix. The breakfast was fresh, varied and pricey. If you're looking for an affordable hotel near Ciutadella Park and the city centre, this is a good option.
