This hotel boasts an ideal location, close to the buzzing La Rambla and other must-see attractions which are easily accessible by foot or taxi. The suite we stayed in was spacious and well-appointed, complete with a separate sitting area and a modern, pristine bathroom. Our room even had a charming balcony overlooking the lively street below. The rooftop deck was a highlight of our stay, offering a tranquil spot for a nightcap at the self-service bar or a dip in the small pool and sundeck. The breakfast spread was delicious and a perfect way to start a day of exploring Barcelona. Be sure to book a room rate that includes breakfast. The gym, though small, was sufficient for a quick workout. The front desk team was friendly and accommodating, providing helpful recommendations and arranging car services. Our overall experience was a positive one and we would gladly return to this hotel.
Very nice room. I highly recomend the one with balcony facing the street. It can be a bit noisier than the rooms facing the interior garden, but still enjoyable. The mini bar was well stocked and had some decent prices. Breakfasts were good (available until 12:00) and contained all the variety necessary. The reception was very helpful and gave us good advice on sightseeing, restaurants, etc. It is very close to all the popular tourist spots, while still being far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the Rambla and Catalunya square. The only problem we encountered was with the third party room service. We had to order something and ended up receiving an incomplete order. We had to send them an email to receive a refund for what was missing, but everything worked out in the end. Just make sure to double-check what you get before paying. In conclusion, this hotel is highly recommended. ??
Stayed at Room Mate Gerard, August 5 thru 12. Rooms 107 and 108. Were early for check-in, and only thirty minutes after getting off the airport bus, disaster struck. We were robbed, and my backpack containing passport, iPhone, iPad, camera, headphones, two pairs of glasses, books and several thousand dollars was taken. We soon discovered that Barcelona is second only to Rome in terms of theft rates, so the lack of warning from the front desk at Room Mate Gerard was truly disappointing - despite the ‘protective’ mantra on their website. The rooms may be attractive, but if you’re on the street side, trucks rumble down the street at 2:00 am and make it difficult to sleep. The modern bathroom in Room 108 was attractive, but the shower was almost impossible to use - water would quickly fill the room and, due to the sensitive faucets, the slightest twist could cause scalding water. Despite alerting the front desk about the issue, it was never fixed. Room Mate Gerard is not a safe, helpful, or hospitable place - with plenty of other hotels in Barcelona to stay in, I would avoid Room Mate Gerard.
Everyone from the hotel staff (front desk, maids and morning breakfast staff) was amazingly kind and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was outstanding. The location is great as it is close to sites and the Hop On-Hop Off pick up spot just a short walk away. There are also many great restaurants within a couple blocks. We would highly recommend this place and will choose to stay here when we return to Barcelona.
Check in - great, very friendly staff and quick to do so. Luggage was safely stored as we had arrived early. Where it started to go downhill: an extra 15 Euros per night for a balcony, which didn't even have chairs or a table to make good use of it. The room was comfortable enough, although the photographs online make it look far more extravagant than it actually was. Grey paint seemed to have been used to cover up tiredness of the room. It was quite small and cramped, however the bed and pillows were really comfortable so sleep quality was excellent. On the roof was a paddle pool, which, although not suitable for swimming, was still fairly generous for what the hotel was offering. There was also a small area to sunbathe. The bar was unmanned so drinks were self-service, which wasn't too ideal. Taking into account the price for an entire week, there are plenty of better options available in the same central area. Would I return? Probably not, as there are many nicer hotels available.
