Catalonia Avinyo

This hotel was nothing short of incredible. Everything from the spotless and modern rooms to the attentive staff was outstanding. The location is perfect for those looking for a central spot in the city and the pool was the perfect way to unwind at the end of the day. I am certainly looking forward to my return stay.

I had a wonderful stay at the Catalonia Avinyô Hotel in Barcelona. The reception and breakfast staff were extremely helpful and friendly, which made me feel even more welcome in the city. My room was exceptionally clean, however the only downside was the lack of any view from the window - all I could see were air conditioning units. Nevertheless, this didn't detract from my stay. The hotel is in a great location for tourists, and I would highly recommend it.

We stayed in this place for 4 nights in a room lacking in ventilation. The only opening was a window that opened to a hallway. Air-conditioning was not functioning properly, so I can't imagine how unbearable it would have been during the warmer months. The level of cleanliness in the room was average or below average. Upon inspection, we discovered someone's hair in the bathtub. The final night, we was even visited by a cockroach. When we addressed this to a receptionist, he simply shrugged and said that he was sorry, but such things can be expected in the older parts of the city. He did offer us drink coupons for our included breakfast. As for positives, one could only point to the breakfast and the location. Considering the price that we paid, the room was below standard and it was an unacceptable level of hygiene. No one should have to count on being greeted by a cockroach in their hotel room.

This hotel certainly has its perks. Located in the heart of the Barri Gothic district, it provides a nice breakfast and has a helpful staff at reception. For a family, however, it may be a bit too costly to book two rooms. Additionally, the rooftop pool wasn't warm enough to take a dip in April though it was surrounded by pigeons that left their mess behind. What's more, the rooftop terrace was only open from 10am to 8:30pm, which was a bit of a letdown. Finally, the bathroom had an extremely loud air conditioner that couldn't be turned off without also turning off the light. Overall, it is a clean and pleasant hotel within walking distance to many attractions.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Catalonia Avinyo. The rooms were comfortable, modern and clean and the bathroom was of a decent size. There was a safe in the room, which was a nice addition. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, which was much appreciated. The breakfast provided was generous and delicious. We chose to stay in a double room which was smaller than expected but the added balcony was a nice touch. We also had a bigger room for 3 people, with a comfortable sofa bed for our teenager. Getting to the hotel was a little tricky as we couldn’t access the area with a car. We had to park our rental car a short walk away and carry our luggage to the hotel. The pool was on the small side but was enough fun for the kids. The location was great and I would definitely stay here again.
