During our recent stay, we had a small amount of cash go missing from our room, which was left in a pocket inside a handbag. Despite the fact that only us and the cleaning staff had access to the room, it was clear that the cash had been taken by hotel employees. After reading other reviews mentioning similar experiences, we reached out to the hotel via email. However, the response we received was a generic denial and a claim that their long-standing staff could not possibly be responsible. This contradicts the other reviews mentioning incidents of theft and the hotel's supposed zero tolerance policy. We also found it suspicious that the hotel encourages guests to use the safe for valuables, yet we were unable to access ours (as mentioned in another review). Furthermore, there was a sign in the room stating that the hotel is not responsible for any missing items not stored in the safe. We also found it strange that we never saw the cleaning staff during our 4-night stay, despite their presence being indicated by the cleaning cart in the hallway. It is highly unusual, in our experience, for cleaners not to enter the room when guests are present. We have traveled all over the world and have never had anything stolen from a hotel room before. We were aware of the reputation for theft in Barcelona, but we never expected it to happen within the hotel itself. If you choose to stay here, be vigilant and cautious about leaving valuables in your room.
Unfortunately, my request for an early check-in was not fulfilled by the hotel, despite only being 10 minutes earlier than the standard check-in time. The receptionists, particularly one named Sergi, were impolite and unhelpful. He did not answer my questions and seemed disinterested in assisting guests. I also encountered another receptionist, whose name I do not know but I noticed he was speaking Romanian. I found him to be very unprofessional as it took him a long time to provide me with the room key, despite my reservation already being in place. It was a disappointing experience to encounter such employees at a hotel.
Being a travel agent, I specifically selected the Catalonia Sagrada Familia Hotel for my group of 24 people. I must say, the hotel exceeded my expectations with its exceptional attention and service. Despite being a 3-star hotel, I confidently recommend it as a 4-star economy property. The rooms and common areas were immaculately clean, recently renovated and updated. The hotel even provided shampoo and shower gel, and the bed linens and towels were brand new - something that can be rare in other 3-star hotels. The rooms were tidied up and the beds were made every day. The breakfast spread had a wide variety of options, including freshly squeezed orange juice and an omelet cooked by a chef right in front of you. The location of the hotel is ideal, with only a 200-meter distance from the train and metro, and just 950 meters from the famous Sagrada Familia. I highly recommend this hotel for families, friends, and group travelers.
During our stay in Barcelona, we had a fantastic experience at the hotel. The breakfast was delicious and the rooms were impeccably clean. The location was also perfect for exploring the city. We were lucky to have Alvaro as our receptionist, as he was the best and most professional. We would absolutely stay here again- it was a truly lovely hotel for a very fair price.
The morning meal exceeded my expectations, comparable to that of a four-star accommodation. The spread was delicious and featured a diverse range of cuisines, including freshly squeezed orange juice, an assortment of cheese, and jamon serrano. Needless to say, it was a pleasant surprise! The staff was incredibly friendly and assisted with all our needs. The room itself was satisfactory, but more in line with a three-star establishment.
