The staff at InterContinental Barcelona really went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic stay. Everything from check-in to the luxurious suite was great. We had the pleasure of joining the Club InterContinental, and we were especially thankful of Bruno from the Club Lounge for all his helpfulness. The restaurant, QUIRAT, is a must-have experience - we'd highly recommend it. All in all, we had a wonderful time at InterContinental Barcelona and will most definitely be back in the future!
So - I went to the reception again - and she said ” we will give you the suite you booked , but that will take some time”. I said that that was fine - as she did offer me the suite I booked - and if it was not ready yet I could wait. She replied that it would take some time, so I could keep the room I got - and I should come back in an hour. I did that - and the suite was ready. But I have to pin point that the ”suite” i had been given before was a ”king bed room” only - with a horrible view - and the suite I got after I insisted was a 2 bedroom suite with 2 bathrooms - and a great view to the Casa Mila. So please - either advise on the booking that you may get a smaller room - or give customers what they book. I did feel this was a bait and switch scheme. So - my stay was ok - but I have to admit I’m disappointed in the service of this hotel."
In general, my stay at the InterContinental Barcelona was good. I was disappointed with the customer service, however. I booked a classic room with the ambassador certificate, but was upgraded to a one bedroom suite with a street view as I’m on Diamond Elite level. When checking in, I was told that the room I booked was not available and that I would be given a different room. I was given a room that was a king bed, but when I checked the IHG App, I saw that I was supposed to be given a suite. I went back to the front desk and was told that the suite I booked was not ready yet, but that I could have the room I was given and come back in an hour. I did that, and the suite was ready. But I have to pin point that the ”suite” I had been given before was a ”king bed room” only - with a horrible view - and the suite I got after I insisted was a 2 bedroom suite with 2 bathrooms - and a great view to the Casa Mila
