A really disappointing stay all round - from check in to check out. After a lovely few days at an NH property in Barcelona, we decided to switch hotels and explore a different area. When we checked in, we were told the only rooms available for our family were on the ground floor, even though we always request a high floor. We checked in, the room was dark and opening the curtains revealed a pile of dirt at eye level so we were effectively half underground. After politely complaining, we were moved to exactly the same room on the third floor... miraculously there were family rooms on other levels too. The bathroom had no hot water for the kids to bathe in, it was dirty in a corner, there weren't enough towels or water for us each day, the TV kept losing signal and was unwatchable, the safe wouldn't lock, and the pillows were very uncomfortable. The fridge didn't work either. When we returned to the hotel one day to drop off our bags, my son had to urgently use the bathroom and the maid, who had only just finished cleaning it, took offence and cursed us in Spanish. Every request took at least three attempts. Despite the nice decor and comfortable room, it was nowhere near 5-star or worth the price. Its location was not convenient either and we felt like the staff saw us as an inconvenience because we had kids. We won't be back.
This hotel was simply stunning - clean, well maintained and with fabulous views of the city. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home. They anticipated our needs and gave helpful advice on restaurants, as well as keeping our little ones amused with crayons and coloring books. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again on our return to Barcelona and highly recommend it. The team deserve a huge thank you!
I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. Service was excellent and the room was clean, spacious, and quiet. It was conveniently located within walking distance of local attractions, including a museum. In addition, we had a wonderful dinner on the terrace, with the bar and pool nearby. The menu had a range of delicious options, including steak and octopus, and the buffet breakfast had great options, such as eggs and omelettes to order, as well as freshly-squeezed orange juice.
My daughters and I spent 5 nights at this beautiful hotel. We were lucky enough to stay in two modern, spacious and well-equipped rooms, one with a balcony and the other with a breathtaking view. The lounge access really came in handy - while I was working, my daughters were able to take a Spanish language course and explore Barcelona. The lounge was comfortable and had great dishes (from the welcoming staff) for breakfast and tapas from 3-7pm. The ladies who ran the lounge were incredibly personable and professional - they made sure all our plans were taken care of. The health club was rather small but had all the modern equipment one could ask for, while the spa was utterly delightful. We especially enjoyed spending time at the rooftop restaurant, bar and pool. In my experience, this place is one of the best high-end hotels in Barcelona.
I have visited Barcelonah numerous times and this was my first experience at the Intercontinental. I was extremly impressesd with what I found. The hotal was practically brand new and the service was phenomenal. I would absolutley stay here again!
