Centrally located, this hotel afforded us a great home base to spend 5 glorious days in Barcelona after disembarking from our Mediterranean cruise. The staff at the front desk were incredibly kind and helpful, helping us out with shipping treasures back to the states ?. The room was comfortable with grand windows opening to a side street which housekeeping were able to open to let in some fresh air ☀️. Beds were comfy and bathroom facilities were top notch ?. We had a great stay here and would definitely return! ???
And we were very pleased with Le Meridien/Marriott.
We stayed 3 nights at a hotel, both before and after a cruise. Everything was excellent and we would return to this place if we ever have the opportunity to visit Barcelona again. Ricardo, the Concierge, professionally and patiently assisted us at the front desk. He helped us as we navigated activities and tours in Barcelona. He is an asset to this hotel/the Marriott Corp. The hotel was clean, safe and convenient. The restaurant and La Poma restaurant ( on the same block) were excellent. There is a supermarket located on that block, too, in case you forget any necessities or want a quick snack/drink. As non-Spanish speakers/travelers from another country, these factors of safety, cleanliness and convenience were very important to us. This hotel cost more than other hotels that we looked at, but you get what you pay for. ….And we were very pleased with this hotel/Marriott.
This is a solid choice if you're into Marriott hotels. It won’t offer a true local experience, but it's clean, run well and decent as far as these types of hotels go. Try avoiding the breakfast if it's not free and you have other options around; with Barcelona being full of amazing places to eat, this one won't compare.
This hotel had a superb location on La Rambla, and the staff were incredibly friendly. The bar area was a great place to relax after a long day of exploring the city, particularly with the fantastic skills of the bartender Jackie M. who served up some of the best Cosmopolitan martinis I've ever had. Breakfast was also a highlight - there was a wide variety of food on offer and the omelets were especially delicious.
Having seen the online photos, I decided to take the time to write a review. As a Titanium-level Bonvoy member, I have had plenty of experience with the brand. Having just returned to Maryland after a three-day stay at this hotel, I can confidently say that it is nowhere near up to Marriott standards. In fact, having stayed in three other hotels in Spain while there, I can tell you that they were all much better. Room 612 was especially indicative of this fact. The room and bathroom were outdated, with cracked tiles in the bathroom and black grout in the shower. Plus, the toilet area had a persistent bad odor - every time I went in there, I wondered who had peed all over the room. It seemed like the stains in front of the toilet were baked in. On top of that, the lobby area wasn't very welcoming, with several guests complaining about room upgrades and point credits.
