I recently revisited a hotel in Barcelona that I stayed at about 5 years ago. This time, what struck me the most was the exceptional friendliness of all the staff. Upon my early arrival from an international flight, I was warmly greeted by a front desk agent who even offered me an eco-friendly box of water. She kindly informed me that my room was not yet ready due to the hotel being fully booked the night before, but assured me that it wouldn't be much longer (we've all heard that before!). She also mentioned that my room had been upgraded, based on my status, and was newly renovated just the week before. I was not at all disappointed by this news, thanks to her efficient explanation. As I waited, two employees approached me and asked if I was comfortable, and even suggested I wait in the upper bar area (which wasn't open in the morning) for a more comfortable seating option. Taking their advice, I waited there and felt much more at ease. Every time I entered the hotel, I was greeted by a staff member at the front door. When I headed for the elevator, the staff would kindly run ahead of me to press the call button and shorten my wait. All signs pointed towards a strong focus on customer satisfaction. To my surprise, I received a notification just 20 minutes later that my room was ready on the fourth floor. Upon entering, I was pleased to find a quiet, impeccably clean and recently renovated room. The windows also partially opened, which was a nice touch. Although I didn't leave them open at night due to some street noise, it wasn't an issue when the windows were closed. The highlight of my stay was the incredible rainfall showerhead in the bathroom, which was about 12 inches square! The only slight downside was that I couldn't get the room to cool down as much as I would have liked, most likely due to the time of year and the air conditioning not being turned on yet. However, cracking the window during the day definitely helped. I appreciated the lighting panel that allowed me to control the brightness and turn on different lights as needed. I also noticed the USB-A and USB-C plugs in the room, which was a convenient touch. The only minor complaint I had was that the TV was a bit small for such a spacious room. The closet area was also quite small, with a bathrobe hanging in it, but it was sufficient for my short stay. On my last morning, I enjoyed an outstanding breakfast buffet with a wide variety of delicious Spanish meats and cheeses. The hotel is conveniently located just a block away from the Paseo de Gracia train/metro station. It only took me 4 stops on the R2-Nord line from the airport, making it extremely easy to get to. I can confidently say that my next trip to Barcelona will definitely include a stay at this hotel. The team there truly did an exceptional job!
My four-night stay at this hotel was excellent. The location is very central and within walking distance to many popular attractions such as Sagrada Familia, Las Rambla, and the beaches. The breakfast was top-notch and the outdoor lounge on the eighth floor, complete with a small pool, was a great spot to relax. We were lucky enough to experience the outdoor BBQ's serving delicious Catalonia cuisine on the weekends. A special mention to the front desk staff, Daniel, who helped us with our luggage, and Beatriz, who went above and beyond for us during breakfast. Both of them exemplify the exceptional service at this five-star hotel. Our room on the eighth floor (room number 808) had an amazing view of Sagrada Familia, making our stay even more enjoyable. Thanks to this hotel and its staff, Barcelona has now become our go-to destination when traveling back to the USA.
My partner and I recently enjoyed a 4-night stay at a hotel in Barcelona (our second visit). We were impressed by many aspects of our stay. All the staff seemed genuinely happy in their roles, which was a pleasant surprise. We encountered some wonderful young employees who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We had lovely conversations with these individuals, whose English skills were impeccable. One employee, Ålvaro, greeted us warmly every morning at breakfast and even took the time to chat with us when he could. Merijn, who is from the Netherlands, also left a lasting impression when he delivered ice to our room and engaged in a pleasant conversation. We also had the pleasure of speaking with Beatrix, who served us at breakfast and in the lounge. She was intelligent, engaging, and charismatic. When she found out about our plans to hike the El Camino, she even provided us with helpful tips from her mother who hikes the trail every year. Our stay at this hotel gave us hope for the future, seeing such young and talented individuals working there. The entire staff, including Carla, Daniel, and Danielle, also made our stay exceptional. As Platinum Elite members, we were treated with extra care and attention. We always choose to stay at Marriott hotels when we can and are already looking forward to returning to this hotel in Barcelona. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
My recent stay in Barcelona was exceptional, thanks to the hotel I chose. Every aspect of my experience was top-notch, as every detail seemed to have been carefully planned for my comfort. I was pleasantly surprised to find a complimentary mini bar and essential travel items in my room, in case I had forgotten to pack anything. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the hotel was always peaceful and immaculately clean. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend this hotel for a truly enjoyable stay.
As a guest at a renowned 5-star hotel in Barcelona under the Marriott brand, I was disappointed with my experience. Despite the city's diverse and international atmosphere, the breakfast lacked an Asian corner. This is a common feature in many hotels, and the addition of simple noodles soup would greatly enhance the breakfast selection. Furthermore, there was no turn down service provided, which is generally expected at a high-end hotel. The limited TV channels, without coverage of popular events like F1 or Motor GP, were also a letdown. Other 4-star hotels we have stayed at in Spain had these channels, so it was surprising to not find them at a 5-star hotel. The room design was not well thought out, with a large closed space for the minibar taking up unnecessary room, while the actual minibar was small. The closet space was also very limited, with the safe and tea facility inside the closet, making it difficult to access. The bathroom design with a bathtub partition made it feel even smaller. Additionally, the pillows were not comfortable, with one being too flat and two being too thick. A range of pillow options, as seen in other 4/5-star hotels, would have been appreciated. On a positive note, the staff were very attentive and the location was good. However, considering the issues mentioned, I cannot give a favorable review for this hotel.
