Steer well clear of this hotel, due to the extremely dangerous neighbourhood surrounding it. We arrived at our accommodation, immediately aware of the bad neighbourhood and the large number of people loitering nearby. On our first night, we were just a few minutes' walk away from the hotel when we were mugged by five men. Although we were obviously foreign tourists, nothing about us suggested we were particularly wealthy and we weren't wearing any expensive items. The staff at the hotel were sympathetic and apologetic, however there could have been a warning when we checked-in, considering how aware they are of the area's crime rate. The small sign at the hotel's entrance saying "safety is everyone’s responsibility" does not adequately reflect the daily reality of the crime committed here. We were told that it "happens here" and directed to the door sign. Travelers in the area should not bring any valuables - watches, jewellery or even bags. At the nearby police station there were a lot of tourists, in both groups and individually, who had reported being robbed. We witnessed two other robberies taking place during our five-day stay in the same area. It is a shame because the hotel itself is nice, with beautiful views from the 360 degree bar and a delicious breakfast. But the minute you leave the hotel, you don't feel safe at all. We would highly recommend staying in another part of Barcelona instead and avoiding this hotel altogether. The positive reviews on this hotel are not representative of the reality and the danger that tourists face here.

As you come closer to the accommodation, you realize the area isn't the best. It gives off an unsafe atmosphere and doesn't seem to fit in with the usual Barcelona vibe. When you enter, the pleasant smell and bright pink and black decor make quite an impression. After a smooth check-in process, complete with welcome drinks, the rooms had an interesting and unique layout. The bathroom was open to the room and the sink was exposed, meaning my friend and I had to inform each other when either of us was taking a shower. The beds were comfortable but the bathtub was a bit worn out and it leaked, so one must be careful. The rooftop bar was a great find, and the interior of the hotel is filled with interesting statues and bright lights. This would be a great place to stay for a city break, but perhaps not for a romantic getaway. The location isn't too bad either, about a 10-minute walk to Las Ramblas. However, it is important to keep in mind that the streets do get quite quiet at night. The place is clean and the staff are friendly, so if you're open to the quirkiness of the hotel, it's definitely worth a visit.
