it was awesome.

My wife and I have stayed in some very lavish places and this one is definitely up there. We were pleasantly welcomed with champagne and water at the door by Alex. The staff were so friendly and helpful, while the concierge team were exceptional. The restaurant is something to marvel at. Because of our status we were upgraded to a bigger room (which was still quite small, unfortunately). The view and room itself was very comfortable, and we were presented with champagne and chocolates to mark our anniversary - very sweet indeed. The patio seating for the restaurant is lovely, and when we arrived exhausted from Madrid, the tapas was really lovely. There isn't one space within the hotel which isn't incredibly inviting. You can often find people sitting in the cosy lobby for a chat. The only slight snag we encountered was when we asked the hotel to arrange a cab to take us to the port. The bellman said it would be no more than $20, but it was actually $55. It would have been better if the hotel had an established car service or group of cabs they could trust. Other than that, we cannot say enough great things about this place - it was truly amazing.

Rooms are nice, and the hotel is a beautiful building.

We stayed at this hotel before our cruise. It's in a prime spot for sightseeing and shopping, with everything within 20-40 minutes on foot. The staff were friendly and courteous, with special mention going to Reyes for handling our luggage, and Martha and Jill in reception - they were always friendly and welcoming. The rooms are pleasant and the building is absolutely stunning.

Sad to say

This hotel had a lot of potential, but it was lacking 5 Star features. Breakfast in the garden was great, but it was understaffed and the head waiter seemed to be doing all the jobs. It was unusual to not have a bidet in a small toilet area, and the tub/shower area was slippery as there were no non-skid mats. The water in the sink also didn't drain out, making it difficult to wash hands or brush teeth.

The real highlight of this hotel was the bellman, Alex. He always had a smile on his face and thought ahead to anticipate our needs - even going as far as handing us umbrellas in light rains. It was a shame when he had days off, especially on our departure. Sadly though, when our taxi arrived to take us to the airport, the bellman on duty hadn't checked the baggage tags before loading. We ended up turning back to the hotel only to find out the bag they thought was ours was not. This added expense and time to the journey.

We had used a large amount of Bonvoy points for this stay in expectation of a 5 Star experience, but unfortunately that didn't happen - we could have saved half the points and stayed elsewhere.

The staff at this hotel made our week-long stay in Barcelona a ? wonderful ? experience. Service by people like Reyes was exceptional! The food in the restaurant was ? delicious ?. We were able to walk to a lot of the sights we wanted to take in. Our stay was great ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ -- thank you to the staff!

This hotel has earned its place as Barcelona's #1 spot. From the champagne check-in to the attentive staff, everything was exceptional. The location couldn't be better, and their attention to detail was outstanding.
