We recently stayed 4 nights at a certain hotel, really looking forward to it as we stayed several years ago and really loved it. We stayed in a room with a terrace, which was lovely and was a positive feature. Unfortunately, things had gone downhill especially in terms of service. One night my husband's bed totally collapsed, he rolled out of bed onto the floor. He has mobility issues so it was difficult for him to get off the floor, plus the shock of it and then not having anyway to sleep for the rest of the night. I spent the night on the terrace. Luckily it didn’t rain. First thing he went down to report it to Reception. We went in person as there was no instructions how to use the in room phone, we tried when the bed first collapsed and could not work it out plus no instructions. Anyway as it was serious we thought reporting it in person would be helpful in getting it sorted. The woman at the Reception first of all said something like “so what?”, she was very rude and abrupt. She acted like we had interrupted her and was rude. She didn’t care, was not interested and didn’t even ask if he was ok. We were totally shocked and I must admit I burst into tears when we got into the lift. I’m in my 60s and just wanted a lovely hotel room and holiday for us both. Then breakfast was also a big disappointment. I’m a vegetarian. The choices were limited. Plus the utensils for the hot food (scrambled egg, bacon and sausages) were not separate so everyone used them for all food. This meant that the food and utensils were contaminated. Even if I had a clean spoon I had already seen other guests dipping theirs in and out across the food. Same for the cold meat and cheese, they were touching plus the same tongs being used. I’m usually not fussy but I didn’t want my eggs or cheese to taste of meat. It was just unhygienic and just so careless of the hotel to allow it. So we were very disappointed by our stay and sadly we cannot recommend staying here....

The Gaudi Hotel is a truly unique experience. Every time I return, I can't help but look forward to the next year - there is something here that just draws me back. This hotel captures the heart, soul, history, art and joy of Barcelona that make it so special. Not only is it small and inviting, but it's also artistic. If you're lucky enough to stay on an upper floor or enjoy a cocktail at the pool on the 6th, you'll feel like the whole city is yours with an amazing view of Palau Guell and the masterworks of Gaudi. You'll also have a view of the mountain Monjuic, the Columbus statue, the port, the terraces, the churches and the Rambla. Sleeping in the Gaudi Hotel is a pleasure all in itself; with the comfortable beds and pillows as well as luxurious bed linens. The breakfast is also outstanding - so many delicious, energizing items to choose from. There is also a gym, a bar in the lobby, and a lounge with a view to enjoy. Plus, the staff at reception are always willing to give advice, answer questions, and most importantly: always with a warm smile. And to top it all off, something that can't be found in many other places - the guests and staff become friends instantly. This is the Barcelona magic that the Gaudi Hotel captures.

We booked this accommodation due to its excellent location and previous positive reviews. Yet our experience was far from satisfactory. Where to begin? 1) The double room we had booked was actually a twin. 2) On our very first (and last) night, our dinner was terrible. When I asked for a hamburger and fries, I received a cold burger, in a stale bun, WITH A BOWL OF CRISPS!! I expressed my displeasure, yet the bartender/chef displayed an appalling attitude. Not only were we not offered a napkin, but when I asked for one, he rather unceremoniously handed a WET serviette to my wife. I was livid. 3) My complaints never got the attention they deserved, despite the promises made by management. 4) On our day of departure, as we were leaving at 5 am for our flight, a packed breakfast was given to us - which consisted of one biscuit, a DRY salami sandwich on white bread, and an apple. How inspiring.... 5) Afterward, in an attempt to get a comment/ recompense from the hotel, I wrote to them only to be told they thought I was being unreasonable. They simply remarked that it was a case of 'my word against that of their staff'. APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE. This hotel enjoys a great location, and is guaranteed to attract large numbers of visitors. However, it appears they don't really care about keeping a dissatisfied customer happy. As a seasoned traveller, I have rarely encountered such an attitude. Shameful.

I have several ? reasonably-priced ? hotels ?️ in Barcelona ?? that I usually stay at, depending upon which area of the city I have plans. Unfortunately, my preferred hotel on/near La Rambla was unavailable. ? The best I could choose was at least 50€ more per night than what I normally pay. For the price, I expected more. The toilet seat ? was broken. Only tiny hand soaps ?, but no dish to place them on. No lotions ? or a shower cap ?‍♀️, which are standard items where I normally stay. The location was convenient for my needs, but that's my only real positive. ?

I had a great stay at the Gaudi Hotel! It was very clean and the breakfast was great. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the check in process was smooth and straightforward. The only downside was that I wasn't able to check in until 3pm, which was a little disappointing. But overall I had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend it to others.
