Staying at the Hotel Continental Barcelona was an interesting experience. Right on the top of Las Ramblas, the location was great if you want to be in the heart of the city. Despite this, I had some concerns about the hotel's safety procedures. The room I was initially given was on the second floor, and after making several turns through the hallways I managed to find it - but I soon realised it would be difficult to find my way back to the main entrance. Examining the exits closer to my room, I found that both were locked with a deadbolt, and the only way to unlock them was with a keypad. There was a phone next to one of the exits, claiming that in an emergency, you had to pick up the phone and wait for the front desk to answer and unlock the door - an inadequate solution in an emergency situation. Upon bringing my concerns to the front desk, they told me they were complying with all safety requirements in Spain, which comes as a surprise to me as such a hotel wouldn't be allowed to operate in the United States. The only other room available was closer to the main entrance and I switched to it, although I was still not entirely comfortable. I wouldn't stay in this hotel again unless they changed the exit procedures, as emergency exits should be unlocked from the inside at all times, otherwise they are useless.

Just back from a 3 night stay at this hotel. Staff were friendly and the room was modern, clean and tidy. The bathroom was decent too. However, noise was an issue. When the next room had their shower running in the morning, it was quite loud. Additionally, there was construction going on at a nearby building that overlooked our room and that was really loud from early in the morning. It was great they offered a buffet all day but they could improve by providing more hot food options for breakfast. Overall it was a decent place to stay but I don't think I'll stay there next time.

My spouse and I recently stayed in this accommodation for a second time in Easter 2023. We were thrilled with our stay and were more than pleased with the service. The rooms were neat and tidy. WIFI was very solid and the reception staff were friendly and accommodating. Drinks and snacks were available 24/7 and were of excellent quality. The hotel's location was one of the best in Barcelona and we are already planning to come back.

The location of this hotel is great - right in the heart of the city. I was pleased to find that the bedroom was a good size, with a nice balcony. The bathroom and shower was a bit lacking in quality, but the room itself was very quiet. The food was alright, a bit samey but enjoyable. I especially liked the frozen yoghurt! Being so close to the metro station and buses was really convenient. But what really impressed me was the staff - they were very helpful and friendly, providing me with all the information I needed. Overall, a great stay.

We had a fantastic experience at the Hotel Continental Barcelona. The staff were all so friendly and accommodating, and the old building provides a unique and beautiful atmosphere. The 24-hour buffet was a great feature - with a wide selection of wine, beer, soft drinks, coffee and tea - and was constantly kept stocked by the attentive staff. Our room had a spacious balcony overlooking the bustling Las Ramblas and was surprisingly quiet, with floor to ceiling doors offering complete privacy. The room itself and bathroom were more than adequate, while its location just a few metres from Plaça de Catalunya made it perfect for exploring the city. Everything was within a 40-minute walk and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again - we were so pleased with our stay!
