Hotel Continental Barcelona was not at all as it seemed in the photos. None of the rooms had balconies, and the staff were intrusive. I was constantly being asked to leave my key at reception when I left and check in when I returned. The staff was very strict about visitors, almost to the point of questioning me rudely when I brought my friend up to the room for a night. The audacity of them making me pay extra for her stay was beyond me; even worse when they came into my room and moved my things around to make space for her. In all my travels, I have never been treated so unprofessionally and with such disrespect. I cannot imagine a worse experience and would urge anyone thinking of staying at the Hotel Continental Barcelona to reconsider.
I can highly recommend the Hotel Continental Barcelona. It's a great, reasonably priced hotel and I'd definitely stay here again. The security was great and my room was small but spotlessly clean with excellent furnishings. I had a wardrobe, a safe, a fridge and a microwave and the bed was really comfortable. What really impressed me was the 24-hour buffet they offer - with coffee, tea, juices, beer and soft drinks all available all day. It was an added bonus. The staff were warm and helpful and the hotel is perfectly located on Las Ramblas. Overall, a great place to stay and excellent value for money.
