If you're looking for the best sangria around, head to the restaurant at the hotel and ask Ricardo to make you a glass. I spent a week trying all different kinds of sangrias, but Ricardo's was by far the best.
Expensive for what was provided, the pool service ranged from average to chaotic. The bed felt like a camp bed and was uncomfortable. When it came time to depart, I was told to just walk around the corner to acquire a taxi with our luggage. This was a bit unexpected and underwhelming considering the price of the stay. The location is great, however there are many other hotels in the vicinity.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Barcelona!
The "NH Collection Barcelona Gran Hotel Calderon" was an absolutely perfect place to stay for us! Its roof top bar was what caught our attention and it definitely delivered on providing us with an excellent view. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was fantastic and even had a great selection for those requiring a Gluten Free diet. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a pleasant stay in Barcelona.
We had a great stay at this hotel! It was in a fantastic location - just outside were restaurants, shops, and walking trails, making it extremely convenient. The staff were really welcoming, particularly the guest relations team who gave us great advice about the sights of Barcelona. As a special treat, we were even surprised with a bottle of sparkling wine for our anniversary! The rooms were neat and the beds and pillows very comfortable. We only had two slight issues: the wifi in our room was a little unreliable, and the breakfast buffet was quite pricey as it wasn't part of our booking. Overall, this was a brilliant hotel and we really enjoyed it!

Our stay at the NH Collection Barcelona Gran Hotel Calderon in Barcelona was full of disappointment. With a prime location, one would expect a 5-star experience, but the unfortunate truth was that the front desk staff were dismissive, unfriendly, and far from accommodating. We arrived prior to 3:00 PM check-in, in accordance with the requested notification from the hotel, only to be informed that our room wasn’t ready and clean. We sent our name via “What’s App” and were told to expect a notification when the room was ready, however, even after inquiring at 2:30, our message had not been read and our room still wasn’t clean. To add insult to injury, when we eventually got our room, our account had not been activated, so our drinks had to be paid for separately, despite a promotion we had obtained when we booked through our credit card company. The day before our departure, we inquired about transportation to the train station and were told the hotel could not accommodate us, directing us to a cab stand that was blocked for construction. We ended up having to walk with our luggage to another street to find a taxi. Not the expected service from a 5-star hotel. This experience has soured me on staying at any hotels affiliated with the NH Collection in the future; a shame, given their motto of “feel welcome.”
