This hotel is in a great spot - close to a range of restaurants, public transport and attractions. It was neat and comfortable, and staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Definitely be returning the next time I'm in Barcelona!
The staff here was extremely welcoming and the hotel was kept tidy. Unfortunately, the decor and furniture was a bit outdated, making it just an average business hotel. The bathroom was basic and not overly luxurious. The breakfast was standard compared to other international hotels. Disappointing.
We absolutely loved staying at the NH Collection Barcelona Gran Hotel Calderon! The staff were so hospitable and always willing to help with whatever we needed. The ambiance was tranquil and inviting, which made us feel right at home. Our room was comfortable and the view of the city was breathtaking. We highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be back when we next visit Barcelona!
Although NH Collection Barcelona Gran Hotel Calderon offers a great central location and rooftop bar, the hotel is not worthy of a 5 star rating. The service was just okay, with staff lacking any warmth or welcome. The room was small and the furniture badly in need of a fresh coat of paint. Unfortunately the worst part of the experience was the unmistakable odor of sewage coming from the bathroom, which even permeated in the room. The elevator was a bit dodgy too, with jerking movements and flickering lights. All in all, the hotel needs to undergo some serious upgrades before it can be considered 5 star.
When I came to Barcelona, checking in was smooth and I got my room earlier than expected. I was lucky enough to have a room with an excellent view! The hotel is a block away from P. De Gracia, a beautiful avenue perfect for strolling and admired the majestic trees and the wide sidewalks. It's also a 5-minute walk from the Block of Discord, with Casa Batllo, Amatller, and Lleo Morera. The room was of a good size for Europe standards, with a huge shower head and water spout. They even provided a pocket-sized sunblock spray which was useful in this hot summer. There's a pool and a bar at the rooftop with a fantastic view of Barcelona, where you can even spot the Sagrada Familia. Every day I went to the rooftop, both during the day and the night, it was great and the bar staff were friendly. The restaurant at the ground floor is Tablafina, where I had a three-course meal for 22 euros. I was served codfish souffle, roasted Iberian pork and flan for dessert, and my server Cristian was so friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. The best part was that I could sit at the outdoor patio in the middle of a pedestrian avenue and enjoy the city view. All the questions I had regarding places to visit, safety concerns, and how to use the espresso machine on my room were answered by Giorgina and other staff at the front desk. I'm definitely going back to this hotel on my next visit to Barcelona!
