I recently stayed at a hotel in Barcelona and was disappointed with the service. The staff lacked empathy and could benefit from customer service training. My experiences with room service and housekeeping were also subpar. Each time I have visited Barcelona for business, the level of service has only decreased. One frustrating issue was constantly having to fix my keycard, as the system seemed to be broken. Additionally, the housekeeping was often late and one evening when I requested towels, it took over an hour for them to be brought to me, despite it being late at night and after a long day. Unfortunately, the reception and staff showed no empathy towards my situation.
Our stay at the Novotel Barcelona City last week was incredible. From the moment we arrived, the staff were exceptionally professional and polite. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean with stunning city views, as well as efficient air con. The breakfast buffet was amazing, with an array of options catering even to our family members with coeliac disease (gluten-free). Lizette, in particular, was very accommodating and went out of her way to ensure we had plenty of gluten-free bread and cakes each day. On top of all that, the rooftop pool and bar offered panoramic views of Barcelona, Glories tower and Sagrada Familia - the perfect end to a perfect stay. We look forward to returning in the future!
We stayed at this hotel from 26th Aug to 28th August in room 1017. Unfortunately, the pipes in the building were blocked and sewerage / feeces were coming back up through the pipes and into the bath. When we first mentioned it, we were told that there were no other rooms and that they were fully booked. We ran the bath and it seemed to clear it for a few hours, but the next day it started all over again and the lady at reception with long hair was made aware. We had to sleep for 2 nights in a room that was not only unhygienic with a foul smell and a continuous noise. The response we received from staff of "thank you for letting us know" and "we will look into it" is not acceptable at any level.
We had a great stay at this hotel. The room was clean and quite basic, but it had everything we needed. The staff were extremely friendly, if occasionally needing to be reminded of requests. Breakfast was included and offered a great range of options. The rooftop terrace and pool were particularly great during the heatwave we experienced during our stay. The hotel's location is a bit further out, but there was a metro station only 4-5 minutes away and a wonderful beach 20 minutes' walk away. Additionally, there was a Westfield right next door, convenient for supermarkets, shopping and quick meals. All in all, a fantastic stay!
The internet was unreliable in this hotel, the mattress was quite uncomfortable, and the family room was incredibly small - it had only a double bed and a couch! On top of that, it was double the price we expected! Not recommended at all due to the price point given the services and location.
