The hotel has a fantastic location, and the rooms are beautifully furnished. However, the pillows were a bit too flat for my liking, as is typically the case with European pillows. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. We opted for the breakfast package, although with so many options in the surrounding area, it may not have been necessary. Nevertheless, the breakfast had a good variety and the food was of high quality, not just a simple bread and coffee affair. While this hotel may have been on the pricier side for Europe, it is definitely worth the cost for those on a vacation, especially if you are visiting Barcelona for the first time.
We had an incredible time in Barcelona, which was the final destination of our European trip. After a week of exploring Switzerland, we were eager to experience the energy and culture of this vibrant city. We decided to stay at the Olivia Plaza Hotel due to its prime location and close proximity to all the must-see attractions on our list. A quick cab ride from the airport brought us to the centrally located hotel, where the check-in process was seamless and the staff were welcoming and efficient. We were particularly grateful for Fransisco, the concierge, who was extremely courteous and helpful with our requests.
Our room, a superior with terrace (#907) on the 9th floor, was nothing short of impressive. The king size bed and separate tub and shower booth made for a comfortable and luxurious stay. And let's talk about the terrace - the panoramic view of Plaça de Catalunya was absolutely breathtaking. We couldn't have asked for a more magnificent view to wake up to every morning.
The breakfast buffet was more than adequate, and the staff were always courteous and professional. We were able to explore most of the landmarks on foot, but public transportation options were also readily available nearby. And when it came to dining options, the choices seemed endless. We were pleased to find that La Rambla was just a mere 50 feet away from the hotel.
We must also commend the housekeeping team for their exceptional efficiency. Every time we returned to our room, it was spotlessly clean and well-maintained. It's clear that the management takes great pride in their well-trained staff, who consistently provided above par service to all guests. We were so happy with our decision to stay at this excellent establishment in such a wonderful city. Our compliments and gratitude go out to the Olivia Plaza Hotel.
This hotel is situated in the perfect location, just steps away from the plaza where you can easily catch a hop on hop off bus or a taxi. Additionally, the famous Hard Rock cafe is just a couple of doors down, which was a bonus for me as a Unity member and avid pin collector. The surrounding area is bustling with activity and offers a delightful shopping street filled with local handicrafts, souvenirs, and charming side streets lined with restaurants and shops. The rooms were pleasant, although a bit unique in design. The shower is partially visible but can be covered with a slider that reveals a sink. It may seem strange, but it functions well. The bathroom door slides and can be a bit tricky to open, but the room amenities like robes and slippers make up for it. As with most European hotels, parking can be a challenge, but luckily the hotel staff was kind enough to guide us to a nearby garage with a secret entrance. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the doorman added a touch of luxury by opening the door for us each time we entered or left. The hotel also has a secured entrance and a convenient bar for those looking for a refreshing drink. Overall, our stay was delightful and we would definitely consider returning in the future.
Having stayed in numerous different places over the years, I can confidently say that the staff at this hotel was the best I have ever encountered. Not only was the room exceptionally comfortable, with an amazing panoramic view of Plaça Catalunya, but the beds were incredibly cozy and the room itself was spotless and peaceful. Its location is also outstanding, right in the center of everything - there could not be a better place to stay!
My mum and I had a fantastic stay at the hotel when we came for the Spanish Grand Prix. The accommodations were perfect, the food was delicious, and the staff were very courteous. The outdoor seating was perfect for enjoying a warm, sunny day.
