This accommodation certainly has potential, but the reality of our stay was far from four stars! From the long wait to check in, to the inefficient reception staff, small rooms, tricky showers, strange furniture and lack of storage space, it all added up to a relying on?? that it would get better. Breakfast was fresh and varied, and the courtyard, bar and restaurant had decent food. However, our stay was marred by difficulty with the air conditioning and hot water, as well as lumpy beds. Communication with reception was poor, and the sewage smell in the corridors of Block 1 was unpleasant. ??‍♀️ Overall, it was a very stressful stay, rather than a relaxing break. ??‍♀️

My wife and I stayed at a 4 star hotel in Barcelona for 2 nights. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. The hallways and our room had a terrible smell. The staff seemed overwhelmed and exhausted. The breakfast left much to be desired. In comparison, we stayed at a petit palace hotel in Madrid, which was very clean with large rooms and a delicious breakfast. Over the course of two months, we stayed in 40 hotels throughout Spain, Portugal, Italy, Sardinia and Corsica. This one was worst by far - I'd be generous to rate it two stars. Furthermore, the noise from the hotel bar and outside area went on past midnight, making the stay even more uncomfortable.

I decided to stay here again after my previous stay prior to the COVID pandemic. We arrived after a long flight overseas at noon, in accordance with the email I was sent before coming. When we returned to the hotel at 2:55 to check in, the reception area was crowded with people all waiting for their rooms. When I asked for our key, the receptionist said no, cheekily, as it wasn't 3 pm yet. I asked what time it was and he replied 2:55. I pointed out that the room would be ready in 5 minutes, yet he responded that there were too many people waiting for their rooms and they hadn't even begun on ours. In spite of an expensive nightly rate, they don't seem to have enough housekeeping staff to meet demand. After finally managing to get into our room, we discovered that it was incredibly hot. We turned on the AC and waited for two hours - only to find that the temperature had only barely dropped. After calling reception and being told that the issue was systemic and they didn't know if it could be fixed, we ended up sweating in the Barcelona heat with windows that wouldn't open. Unfortunately, this hotel's promises seem to be empty, especially if you read the previous review regarding the AC. Consider a different hotel.

This hotel was a huge disappointment right from the start of our stay. Upon arrival, we were ignored by the man on the desk for some time, and it wasn't clarified that the others we saw dressed in scruffy white tee-shirts and with tape measures around their necks were actually reception staff. We had booked a double room but were given a scruffy room with folding bunk beds in addition to the double bed with a split and peeling headboard. There was no milk in the fridge and the TV wouldn't even work. To make matters worse, voile curtains were stained, and there were inane texts written on items around the hotel such as a "This is a Towel" note. The bathroom seemed to have suffered from flooding, with panels, skirting etc being swollen, warped, and there was mould and scum-type debris around the door and inside the shower. Also, the view out of the room was not what we expected, as it looked directly into someone else's house. On the plus side, the hotel is located in a convenient spot just off La Rambla and has a peaceful garden area for drinks, as well as a great breakfast with friendly and efficient staff. It's also an old building with plenty of character. However, the cons of this stay definitely outweighed the pros, and we would not recommend this establishment.

This place proved to be in a great spot. The hospitality was ? and the staff were so helpful. The rooms were ?? and had all we needed. The breakfast spread was mouth-watering ?. The garden was a peaceful and tranquil oasis ?. Definitely the ideal start to our journey ?.
