This hotel was very nice and clean throughout, however it didn't provide the same perks as I have come to expect from other Catalonia establishments. There was no welcome complimentary drink for members, no complimentary water or any other amenities in the room, and no recognition of membership whatsoever. That being said, the staff member who checked me in went above and beyond, helping me with my bags even though the bell hop wasn't around. This kind of exceptional service is what makes Catalonia hotels stand out from the rest. The hotel is also in a great location, close to everything.
I was really happy until I saw my credit card bill and found that I had been charged for mini bar products that I didn't even use. When I asked the staff about it, they said I'd taken a Coke Zero and two bottles of orange juice - similar products I'd bought in Carrefour Supermarket! But there was actually no orange juice in the mini bar, so it's incredible they didn't notice it was missing. It appears the hotel doesn't check the mini bar for missing items, they just check the room's trash! I'm shocked and disappointed. I won't stay there again and I suggest that others be careful - whatever you throw away, you can still be invoiced for it.
Staying at this 4* Sup hotel in Barcelona was generally a good experience ?. The pool servers were top-notch ? and we adored Anna. The bed was comfortable and the room was quite spacious. Breakfast and service were really good ?. The only downside was that when we arrived after an overnight flight, the front desk staff were not friendly at all ?. We asked if we could upgrade the room but they said we couldn't as it had been booked in advance ?♂️. Usually when this happens, you're able to upgrade with a surcharge but unfortunately they didn't offer us the chance. A bit disappointing ?.
Plus side: great location and large rooms. Downside: absolutely abysmal customer service - the pool area was overfilled with children screaming and splashing water all over the place, even on sunbeds. We also had a champagne stopper go missing from the room and no one would take the time to talk to us about it, even though we could converse in Spanish. The rooms were not cleaned till late in the day on several occasions and one day we even had to go without a clean. Worst of all, they assumed we had taken something from the minibar and charged our credit card for "missing bottles of wine" without notifying us or responding to emails. When I called them, they accused us of stealing and rudely ended the call. All in all, a far better experience can be had by searching for a different place to stay in Barcelona.
Choose a different place!
Do not stay at this place! It's a scam. We were charged an extra 40£ without any explanation. We called and asked why, and they said something was missing from the mini fridge. We tried to explain that wasn't true and the person on the other end was really impolite, said "goodbye" and hung up. Avoid this place!
